How writing can be therapy to the soul; Do you have a book inside of you?

Credit: A Beautiful Mind

Writing can be therapeutic; as Psychology Today bloggers, Randi Kreger and Rochelle Melander point out, “Many psychological and medical studies have shown that writing about difficulties and dreams helps people experience increased happiness, health, and productivity.”

When we have lots of things going around in our mind, we often can’t sort through them. When the mind feels chaotic, it does affect the body and soul. If you can soothe your soul, the rest will follow.

One of the best ways to do this is through writing. Therapeutic and self-reflective writing are excellent ways to express your emotions. There are many therapeutic exercises on my blog. If you click through the A-Z you’ll find exercises for certain subjects. If you feel you have a blockage in an area of your life, have a look through and see if you can relate to any of the subjects. Have fun doing this, don’t put pressure on yourself. My exercises help to give you an avenue to start expressing yourself. You don’t need to show anyone these writings, you can keep them or throw them away.

If you feel like your head is in the middle of a motorway, then letting all this go onto paper is an amazing release. Research has shown that writing down our thoughts does help to clear our thoughts: it can help put things into perspective, see things more clearly and prioritise. The latter isn’t saying some thoughts don’t matter, however, there could be thoughts that are murking the waters.

For example, are you worried about the outcome of a situation? Are you stressing about things that haven’t happened yet? If this is the case, when you’re releasing these thoughts, write about the outcome you desire. Write as if you’ve received this outcome. Imagine the emotions and joy you would feel if you were at peace.

Writing is very powerful, many authors have created fictional stories through their own life experiences. When I was studying for my MA in Creative Writing, the saying, ‘Write what you know’, was used quite often. You can read more about, ‘Writing what you know,’ by Joanna Penn here. (It is one of her older posts, however, it is still very useful in terms of how authors bring personal experiences into their writing). My fiction books draw in life experiences, I love turning real-life into fiction, as it can help the reader, especially if they identify with a situation within my books.

Simply putting pen to paper is amazing for your soul. We need to take care of our inner selves so that our outer selves can shine. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar or even if your writing makes sense … just write and get those thoughts, emotions and experiences down on paper.

There is probably a book deep inside of you.

How To Be Your Most Radiant Self

I love the quote above by Jane Seymour. Think about this quote and think about someone you would describe as radiant.

Think about this person and ask yourself, what makes them radiant?

If you are thinking about the way they dress or how they look, then you are missing the point of radiance … because radiance comes from within.

Credit: Image by MinistaJazz on Pixabay

Radiance is the person who smiles, laughs and brings energy with them that is infectious.

Often, radiance can be wiped from us due to everyday life getting in the way (that treadmill I talk about). From the 9-5 mundane job you are stuck in, to the busy schedule of family life. The only thing radiating from many people by the end of the day is tiredness.

So how can you become more radiant and spread that radiance to others?

Credit: Image by jill111 on Pixabay

Firstly, think about your life?

Is there something that drags you down?

Can you change this?

Sometimes we can’t. Sometimes we have to take a new perspective on the ‘thing’ that is affecting our radiance. Changing your thoughts to a situation can give you renewed energy.

Here’s a little exercise to get you started:

  1. Write down the things you can change: a quick change, or a change that will happen over a period of time.
  2. Write down a plan to how you can make these changes: writing down your thoughts, emotions and plans is a great way to become focused on the task at hand. If a certain change needs a long time-frame, write down the steps needed to make this change happen.
  3. Now, write down the things you can’t change, as much as you would like to, but you feel these things can’t be changed.
  4. Look at the things you can’t change and write down the positive aspects. Change the way you look at these things, think about how you could embrace them into your life, how can you view these things from a different perspective. This task may be hard, but you will be able to draw something from this. Learning to love whatever life throws at you, helps to release good energy rather than negative dull energy that will affect other areas of your life.

We often wake up on a morning, with all the tasks we’ve got to complete, things we’ve got to do … pulling ourselves from our bed, we then put ourselves on autopilot and make our way through the day. Sound familiar?

One of the best ways to start your day is with gratitude …

Credit: Image by johnhain on Pixabay

Before you get out of bed on a morning, think about the things you are grateful for in your life. Say thank-you aloud. If you can jump out of bed shouting ‘thank-you’ you’ll soon notice a difference in your mood … and people will soon notice your radiance.

Here are a few more tips on how you can become more radiant:

1. Practise mindfulness: You can practise mindfulness through meditation, or simply look through my blog, there are several blog posts that will help you practise mindfulness. From finding your quiet, to soothing your soul, plus there are plenty of therapeutic writing exercises.

2. Rise above your troubles: Life sometimes throws us a curveball, but often situations arise because they have a deeper meaning. The best way to do this, is to ask yourself: what am I learning from this situation? What can I be grateful for? How will this situation affect me in a year’s time? What can you do to make the situation better? Challenge yourself, fight your way through … get up every morning with a smile and a grateful heart and your radiance will shine through.

3. Connect with others: When you’re out and about smile at others. A smile, a friendly hello or a small interaction with someone who crosses your path during the day, can give you an energetic boost. Don’t underestimate the power of connecting with others to increase your mood, this will inevitably lead to you becoming more radiant.

Making a conscious effort to be more radiant by bringing all of the above together. This is sure to bring out a radiance that will shine onto others.

Ten Products That Will Help You Be Courageous

Do you have the courage to pursue your goals?

Do you listen to your ego and not allow yourself to feel the freedom of following your dreams?

You are here for a reason; your passion is your purpose – your purpose is your reason for being.

So have the courage to let go of self-doubts, other people’s doubts and make your life’s purpose, your life mission.

Below I’ve listed some awesome products that can help you find the courage to follow your heart. Before you look through them, why not try out the self-reflective therapeutic creative writing exercise, designed to help you see how courageous you are.

You can be whoever you want to be. You can be the person who trundles through life, whining that it’s unfair because you are not living the life of your dreams, OR you can be the person who courageously took your passion and pursued your life mission with all that you had. No listening to nay-sayers, mood-hoovers and negativity. You can be the person who made it happen.

By choosing the latter, which is the option I insist you have the courage to take, you will see a lift in your energy. This lift is telling you that you’re on the right track. While fulfilling your passion and purpose see how many people are positively affected by you pursuing your goal. By you having the courage to focus on what it is you want from life, you automatically give out positive vibes, these vibes are like a chain reaction, they spread to others and your courage encourages them. Now you may not be able to give up the day job, just yet, but start investing time into your passion. Remember; small steps count. Have the courage to pursue the reason you are here.

Still feel you need a little support? Here are some of my favourite products to help you find your courageous streak.

Every time I write about Doreen Virtue’s books, I want to say, ‘This is my favourite’ … all her books are so amazing that I can’t help but be drawn to them all. This particular book truly resonated with me, as being a creative soul that was never encouraged too much as a child, I struggled to conform to the traditional job roles that I was expected to take on. So listening to this, as I did through audible, Doreen Virtue touched my heart and soul. I truly connected with this book and I encourage anyone who is not only creative, but also those who may be at a loss as to what their purpose is, this book will definitely help.

Are You Willing Enough To Achieve Your Goals? – A to Z Inspirational Blog; W is for Willing with Willingness Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

W IS FOR WILLING

It’s pretty obvious really that if we want something, we must be willing to put the effort in. Nobody can push us if we’re not willing to be pushed. Just like nobody should be able to stop us if we are willing to push ourselves. You may know from my posts that I’m certified in the Law of Attraction … the LOA says, to relax, to not stress, because you bring more stress to you. So sometimes you may be willing to do what it takes to achieve your goals, but you may be stressing yourself with your over-willingness, your panic and your need to succeed. The universe reflects these feelings back to you, which leads to frustration, as you feel no matter how willing you are, you’re on that treadmill and not getting anywhere.

So, your willingness to put the work in must come from a positive approach. Let go of the angst, the worry, the stress … know that the work you are putting in, your willingness to move your life forward will be reflected back to you. The sooner you think positive clear thoughts, believe and just know that all will be okay, the sooner it will be reflected back to you.

Sometimes we stop willing to succeed because of hurdles or barriers, but if your heart is pulling and your soul is telling you this is your purpose, then you must be willing to overcome any situation that may feel as if it’s holding you back. Often things happen because we need to look deeper into ourselves, or we need to look deeper into the situation, is it trying to tell us something. As you’ll know from my other posts, I truly believe everything happens for a reason, so we must be willing to look for the lessons in anything that steps in our way.

If our heart is telling us this is our purpose, this is our reason for being, then we must be willing to follow our hearts, and most importantly we must be willing to trust our journey. Trust that we are on the right path and that we must overcome obstacles to learn and move forward. We must always be willing to see the bigger picture. If you have that urge inside of you, if your heart and soul are telling you to follow your passions, you must be willing to do what it takes to get there. Through love, effort and belief, you will achieve.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise think about your willingness to learn

Do you feel as if you’re being held back? Are you focusing on the negatives? Are you losing your faith? If so, this exercise is perfect for you.

Write down, in list form, all the things that you feel are holding you back. All the things that you believe are stopping you from achieving. Now this could be a certain situation that has happened, or something you are focused on … which you should realise, if you’re focused on the barriers, you’re inviting more barriers …

Take one of the barriers and now freewrite about how you feel it has stopped you progressing … yes, I understand this is negative, however, understanding what is actually stopping you will help you see that it is your attitude that is stopping you, not the actual situation.

Ask yourself, (and write down) what have I gained from this situation (there will be something), what have you taken away that can help you develop as a person and with your goal.

To do this exercise, you must be willing to learn. You must be willing to find the reason behind these barriers, what can you gain from them, what can you do to improve your situation. You must be willing to look at the learning experience of anything that gets in your way, because you will be able to take something away that will help you progress and move forward.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

So be inspired daily with this
