Yes, there is such a thing as World Laughter Day. It is celebrated worldwide on the first Sunday of May every year. It was created by Dr. Madan Kataria in 1998 in Mumbai, India.
Dr.Madam Kataria founded the Yoga Laughter Movement. The idea to bring positivity, peace and unity across the globe, to connect with each other through laughter. Did you realise there are thousands of laughter clubs across 105 countries?
How awesome is this guy? Creating such an awesome day and spreading the love of laughter to so many people.
There’s so much sadness in the world, so to focus on laughter can bring so much joy to us. Laughing your way through problems can be the easiest way to overcome them. Joining others on their laughter mission could be just what you need. Yes, this can be easier said than done, but Dr. Madan Kataria has created tools you can use that will help.
Imagine being surrounded by people who are happy. I understand that laughter or a smile doesn’t always mean happiness, but even faking it can make you feel better. Faking it until you feel it within. You will eventually feel that happiness and joy.
You can read my previous post on Laughter, participate in the therapeutic writing exercise and task. Find something to laugh about and spread this love to everyone.
This month I’ve added 10 downloadable funny and quirky quotes to my online shop. You can spread the joy throughout your home or workplace; a little reminder that laughter is so important.
The following prints come in a package for £9.99, which is less than £1 per print. You can print, frame for your home or as gifts for friends.
We celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8th March.
This historical day began in the early 1900s when it was a great time for radical changes. It all began when 15,000 women came together and marched through the streets of New York demanding better hours, better pay and voting rights
You’ll have read about the suffragette movement, and how founder Emmeline Pankhurst was jailed at least ten times for speaking out about women’s rights. This movement caused women to not only be jailed but killed.
Some will say we still have a way to go, and I haven’t written this post to get into any political debate. I have written it though to express gratitude to all women. Yes, all women.
I love this quote by Angela Anagnost-Repke (Writer)
Dear Daughter, I hope that you are happy for other women’s victories and not jealous, are never afraid to be alone, don’t care about the size of the ring on your finger, can inhale a cheeseburger on the first date and always pull another woman up when she’s down.’
There have been some amazing women who have given everything to push for equality. They have overcome dire challenges, they have fought, they have continued to pursue their dream and goals. Women who strive forward with such passion, conviction and belief in themselves. Such women have paved the way for other women.
It’s our duty as women, to encourage, support and celebrate other women.
On this note, this month’s downloadable printables include quotes from many amazing women.
There’s an overview below of the prints that are available from the above women. See if any of these packages would inspire you if they were in your home or office. Or even print and frame for a loved one, who may need support and encouragement.
Personally, I think every single day should be about love!
Every single day should start with gratitude, appreciation and knowing that if you come from a place of love, not much negativity can touch you.
This isn’t about having ‘the love of your life’, this about love for yourself and for others.
I may now be going into a slight loving rant about ‘love is the only way to look at the world and how your perspective will change when you come from a place of love …’ but I’m sure if you read my posts, you’ll already know this.
In this month’s blog post, I thought it only fair to share the love with your loved ones. On the 14th February, people go all out to show their other half how much they mean to them, but sometimes the simplest, but most thoughtful, gifts can be the gem that catches their heart.
You can see the following designs on my online shop; purchase, download, print and frame.
10 PRINTS FOR ONLY £4.99 IN 2 DIFFERENT SIZES; 8X10 & 4X6 … YOU CAN USE THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN
Show your other half how much they set your soul on fire.
Embracing your time alone is good for the mind, soul and heart. Solitude is a great way to recharge your internal batteries. The world can often be busy and chaotic, we can be running from one place to another and not really taking concentrated time to be quiet; to just sit and breathe.
Research has shown that quiet-time relieves stress, tension and helps to boost a person’s mental state. Too much time alone can have an opposite effect, however, on a day-to-day basis when life is full of schedules, deadlines, places to be, things to do, it’s very important to find time to be and relish in quiet.
As a parent, I understand the limited ‘quiet time’ available, however, I have to ensure I do have quiet time, whether this is just 5-10 minutes before bed, or before the craziness starts on a morning, but I know it makes me a better parent. I know it gives me time to focus, re-adjust and feel gratitude.
Researchers have said that meditation is so important, however, many people find it hard to connect with their inner selves. There are many meditation downloads you can choose from that will help you find your inner peace, however, if you prefer to be a bit more active here are 5 ways to enjoy some quiet time and switch off from your hectic world:
1. Bath with candles – either quietly or listening to some soft music
I love baths. A hot soak with bubbles, candles and some soft music can be just the thing to soothe the soul. Being mum, it isn’t always possible to have a bath without the interruptions of children. If you have children who go to bed and sleep, that’s awesome, ‘us mums’ who didn’t succeed in that department praise you. However, those who have children who don’t sleep, need to find their quiet time, dare I say, probably even more so …
I’ve known myself to get in the bath at 1.am and onwards … just to feel the soak of the water and relax from a hectic day. I find water relaxing, although, I’m not a lover of swimming I still like to chill in the pool, and my family does like to swim, so we got the best variable speed pool pump to keep our pool clean. I love stepping into the heat of the bath and just knowing that calmness surrounds me. I can’t use my laptop in the bath, I can’t run errands, I can’t be sorting the house out. It stops you from doing the tasks that can feel mundane and can relax your mind so that you can recharge and feel in control again.
2. Go walking
By going out walking, we all know it’s a great way to keep fit and healthy, but this is a great way to also find your quiet.
I reiterate this throughout my blog posts, walking in the fresh air is a natural and free way to lift your mood. Research has shown that exposing ourselves to fresh air can relieve stress and anxiety. It can affect the serotonin levels released in our bodies, which then leads to feeling happy and relaxed.
So whether you walk in silence, or with your headphones on, you will feel immensely better after. You can listen to music or, like myself, listen to an audiobook (I use audible, I absolutely love it, a fab product if you love listening to stories).
This is another of my favourites. I love reading all kinds of books, from losing myself in someone else’s fictional drama, learning more about the world of spirituality to being inspired by others who have achieved their goals. Whatever your hobbies and interest, you will find a book that will grab your attention.
4. Jigsaw Puzzles
There have been several studies to show that jigsaws are great for improving both mindfulness and brain activity. You can see more about this on Memory Jogging Puzzles.
Jigsaws have been around for centuries, so it’s not something new, but it may be something that someone hasn’t thought to partake in. Especially in the hustle and bustle of adulthood, the last thing we may consider doing is sitting down to put together a jigsaw.
We all know the world is now full of technology; phones, i-pads, tablets etc. but that isn’t finding our quiet time. Set-up a place in your house; kitchen, bedroom, office etc. where you know you can sit down, focus on a jigsaw and relish in some quiet time.
5. Colour Therapy
Colouring has always been popular for children, but when the colouring books came out for adults, I was in my element. I would colour with my girls when they were younger and found it so relaxing. Therefore having our own designs that are created especially for relaxation, I believe, is just one of the best ideas ever.
Often we let our heads rule over our hearts. We analysis situations, we judge, we criticise … we overthink.
Once you become more aligned with your spiritual being you will find it easier to follow your heart. Imagine your heart is coming from a place of love, passion & purpose and then imagine your head is coming from a place of fear.
This is a dramatic way to look at life and I understand that it really isn’t that simple, however, if you can simplify it then you’ll see how your life is meant to be full of love. Imagine coming from a place of love and light. Imagine following your heart and knowing that everything will fall into place. By listening to your fear, you are listening to what is known as the ego.
Once you learn to listen to your heart, come from only a place of love, you will feel so fulfilled that your ego won’t be able to push you away from the things you love.
Remember to surround yourself with positivity to keep the negative thoughts away.
Often we think with our heads, we over-analyse, we judge, we criticise and we don’t come from a place of love. So to remind yourself to come from a place of love, surround yourself with positivity. There are plenty of other quotes on my shop to help keep these loving thoughts at the forefront of your mind.
We can feel victory in certain areas of our life, but our aim is to feel victorious in all areas of our life. Now, yes, this may mean hard work is needed in certain areas. But read the quote above …
I do love this quote, because if you have the fight in you; if you refuse to give up on your dreams, your soul purpose, you will achieve it. You must believe in yourself. You must believe that victory will be yours. You must take your life and live it to the fullest. You can feel victorious if you are working towards something because every day you will achieve another goal; every day you are a step closer. Every day you must reflect on the victory of your success for that day. A daily victory will lead to a life of victory.
To achieve that victorious feeling, you must believe you can do this. You must have faith in your ability. You must keep striving forward and know that you are going to win. Think about the Law of Attraction, whatever your thoughts you are attracting, you are the creator of your life. If you think you can win, you will … if you think you can’t win, you won’t! You will put the effort in where it’s needed if you want to feel victorious. Putting the effort in tells the universe you are willing to work towards your goals … the universe will respond with opportunities to help move you forward.
Talk positively about your goals, drive yourself forward and speak only about your victories, no matter how small they are. Don’t talk about situations not working. Don’t focus on the things that could go wrong. Think about, talk about and embrace all the wonderful things that will go right. Focus on the end goal and the winning. Focus on the victory. If you focus on victory you will bring that to you, if you focus on defeat you will bring that to you. So it’s important to check your thoughts and embrace the feeling of winning, embrace the feeling of achieving, embrace the feeling that you are victorious.
In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise let’s focus on the victories in life
This week’s exercise is to write daily. At the end of each day write about the achievements you have made, what victories can be celebrated. Small steps count and if you are ticking off boxes you are moving forward.
So every day this week write about your victories. If this helps, you can continue this after the week. It’s something you could get into the habit of doing. Sometimes we feel as if we haven’t got anywhere, we have days where we feel that treadmill is just rolling on and we are just walking through life. Life is happening to us, we’re not making it happen for us … once you start to write down your daily wins you’ll be encouraged to achieve more wins. You’ll feel the surge of energy to get out there and make life happen for you. Go and be victorious!
Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.
