5 Ways To Make Sure You Are Taking Advantage of Life’s Opportunities

Opportunities pass us by in life. It’s that simple. Sometimes we don’t even notice them, we dismiss them as an inconvenience. Often the opportunities we do recognise, we overthink the situation and they pass us by. We are embedded in our comfort zone and we are scared to move forward, so rather than grabbing an opportunity, we let it go.

Below, you can find ways to become more open to life’s opportunities. Open your mind, eyes and heart … watch the opportunities come to you once you allow them in.

We don’t all want the same things in life, it would be a boring world if we did. So think about the opportunities you’d like to be presented with; new job, more money, holiday, new relationship etc.

Visualising and believing you already have this opportunity is a great way to attract it to you. Know what you want and then open your eyes. Opportunities will soon present themselves to you: a promotion, a new job, meeting someone.

A great way to visualise is to write down your visions, dreams, goals etc. Even create a vision board; cut out pictures from magazines or download photos from the internet, paste them onto a board and imagine that you already have these opportunities.

You have to be clear in your mind what it is you want so that the universe can deliver these opportunities to you.


Even if you’re not the most sociable of people, there are ways to connect with the outside world. If you work in a huge corporate company, there will be ways you can talk and build relationships with other people in different departments. Make conversations when you are in the lift or passing on the stairs. A smile can lead to a, ‘Hello’, to a, ‘Gosh, it’s cold outside’ … within weeks you could be having full-blown conversations about your lives. You never know who you are talking to, you never know where these conversations can lead to … an opportunity could arise and you could be in someone’s mind, simply because you are friendly.

If you don’t have the opportunity as above, building relationships professionally online is a great way to expand your network. LinkedIn is specially designed for business. Opportunities arise through such networks constantly, but it’s about building your own profile and looking out for these opportunities, to build your own business, since now a days you can even make your business online, delivering services or selling products, since there are resources like the Best ecommerce order fulfillment companies which help businesses delivering products to clients.

Even when you’re out and about; say for example you’re in a queue, strike up a conversation with the person in front of you, or compliment a stranger on something you notice. Again, you never know who you are speaking to, you never know what opportunities could arise. And, even if no opportunities come from these random conversations, you will feel good. Passing on the love to others; making them feel good will inevitably make you feel good. Your feel-good vibes will reflect out to the universe … and the universe will deliver more feel-good vibes back.

Are you passionate about something? Animals? Reading? Sewing? Exercise?

You could volunteer some of your time at a local project. There are plenty of projects looking for volunteers, from animal rescue places to vulnerable people projects. What makes you happy? You never know who else is volunteering. You never know the opportunities that can arise.

If the above doesn’t float your boat, how about joining a club; a book club, a running club or flower club, these are just examples. Set-up your own club if you can’t find something locally. You will be amazed at the type of people you will meet, and these meetings could lead to something bigger and better.

Sounds simple, right? But how many times have you said, ‘Yes,’ to something that makes you feel uncomfortable? How many times have you stopped yourself doing something because it scares you? Makes you nervous? How many times have you thought, ‘I wish I could, but I just can’t?’ This is where you have to let go of your inhibitions. Your barriers to opening up will be preventing opportunities coming your way. This is the time to take yourself out of your comfort zone and allow opportunities in.

Sound egotistical?

It doesn’t need to be. You don’t need to be conceited, you just need to be aware that you want people to think of you if an opportunity was to arise. For example; you want your boss to think of you when an opening for manager arises. Or even on a relationship level, you want Linda, from accounts, to think about you when her nephew becomes single.

It’s about being out there. It’s about others knowing about you. Selling yourself isn’t about talking all about YOU! YOU! YOU! It’s about interacting with others. Selling yourself is not only about your skills and abilities, it’s about your personality and character. Linda, from accounts, may like the idea that you’re not lazy and you’re very good at your job, but if you come across cold and insensitive, then you may be on her mind when her nephew is single, but it will be for the wrong reason! She’ll be keeping you far away.

Personality and character has much to do with success, in all areas of our lives. If people receive good vibes from yourself, they will automatically remember you. So wherever you go, smile, chat and be a bundle of light that people can’t forget.

Remember; the universe will deliver more light to you when you are shining yours.

Inspirational Quotes To Help You Personally Grow

Do you feel stagnant? Do you feel stuck in a rut? 

Life can often do this to us, but it’s only us who can do something about it. It is only us who can push ourselves to grow. Is there something deep inside of you that knows you have more to give to the world? You know there should be more to your life than there is?

Sometimes we need a short sharp push to get us out of our comfort zones. If that isn’t happening, there are no ‘AH-HA’ moments in your life, then you need to be the change. You need to think about what it is you want and make those changes happen. Don’t let the fear of what could go wrong interfere with what could go amazingly right. This life journey is one big learning curve, so pick-up on the lessons and ensure that you grow to live the wonderful life you should be leading.

How To Personally Grow When You Feel Stuck In A Rut – A to Z Inspirational Blog; G is for Growth with Growth Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

Becoming stagnant in life is very easily done.

We become accustomed to the routine of life; waking up – kids at school – job – pick kids up – dinner – bed! In addition to that, there will be a mixture of after-school activities, parent taxi-service, household chores and other essential tasks that need fulfilling. Sound familiar?

So then when we talk about growth on a personal level, we often feel we don’t have the capacity to fit anything else in, let alone look after ourselves. Wouldn’t it be great to just feel stable? Really … do we need to bring in the extra pressure of personal growth?

Being stuck in a rut is actually damaging to your health. Read here research from Harvard Medical School about the dangers; Samuel Parkes Cadman said, “the only difference between a rut and a grave is a matter of depth.”

Let’s look at this last quote … ‘unlearning old limits’ … so when we talk about being stuck in a rut, what part of your life do you feel reflects this rut? What old beliefs, if any, do you feel are holding you back?

Is there an area in your life that you want to grow and learn new ways of living? Or as we said above, unlearn habits and limitations? This could be your career, health, family … there could be an area in your life you feel is lacking. It’s your choice to push yourself forward and grow in this area. We always have a choice to either stay where we are or make the changes needed to live the life we want and deserve. Even if these changes are small, a small change made daily is better than no change at all. You will soon see results in this area of your life.

The key to change and growth is staying focused. Sometimes when we need to grow it can be hard work. It can be an effort that we really are not sure we have the energy to pursue. But you can do this. You got this. If you feel a pull towards a certain change, an area in your life that needs your attention so you can grow and prosper then go with it. That pull is there for a reason, you need to follow that pull. Don’t be pushing it back. You may even tell yourself you are pushing it back until ‘later’ … but does ‘later’ ever come? Forget whatever else is going on in your life, and yes, sometimes it isn’t the right time to make changes, but if you feel that it’s never the right time to make changes, then there never will be a right time, so just do it. Just start putting steps in place to push yourself forward.

Continue to grow even when it feels too hard … because this will be the time when you desperately need to grow. Growing will leave these hard times behind.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercises, let’s look at how you can help yourself grow …

Let’s focus on where you’d like to be in the future. Thinking ahead will help you focus on the tasks that need to be fulfilled to achieve these goals. I’m all for living in the moment, but if you’re not growing as a person, if you feel stuck in a rut, you’re not really living in the moment.

This is a free-writing exercise, so simply write down what comes into your head … (we are going to work back over as it will help you focus on your long-term goals and break them down).

1/ Where would you WANT to be in 10 years time?

2/ Where would you WANT to be in 5 years time?

3/ Where would you WANT to be in 1 year’s time?

Now take each question and break it down … what do you need to do to reach these achievements? Obvious question is, what can you do today to help yourself grow? What can you do today to take you closer to your goal? This includes, what do you need to stop doing to grow? What old beliefs and limitations do you need to change?

Remember; small steps count. Ask yourself; what would you thank yourself for tomorrow?

Throughout all this exercise, remember; YOU GOT THIS! You are strong! You have these urges, passions and goals because you are meant to achieve them. We are all here for a reason, you need to ask yourself if you are fulfilling your reasons for being? If you feel as if you are not growing into the person you want to be, what can you do to make this happen?

If you feel the above questions are too difficult to think about? You’re not sure where you want to be, simply write. Write about the life you’d like to have, where you’d like to be in the future, write about want you feel is holding you back, write about your unlimited beliefs and limitation … simply write and you will find your answers to the above questions.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

How To Stay Focused In Your Busy World – A to Z Inspirational Blog; F is for Focus with Focus Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

Admittedly this is one word I can struggle with … FOCUS!

What? And I’m writing a blog on it?

Yes … because I’ve had to learn several ways to stay focused on one particular task. I often have many projects on the go at once, which is never a great thing, but they are all projects I want to do. When I lose focus, nothing gets finished. I have projects hanging over me and I wonder which is a priority … then the kids are off school with their half-term holidays which seem to come round pretty fast! Once again, projects are put back, as the chaotic life with kids envelopes our world.

Sound familiar?

The first quote by Eric Thomas and this second quote by T.F.Hodge, seem to contradict each other a little. However, put them together, they do make perfect sense. If you have set yourself a task, then you have a specific outcome you desire. However, focusing daily on steps that will help you reach that outcome is the best way forward.

So in times of life’s upheavals, focus on where you want to be daily, do something in that given moment to help you to move closer to the outcome. Putting plans and steps in place will help you focus on the tasks that need to be achieved.

In this week’s therapeutic creative writing exercise, we are going to FOCUS on lists …

Lists are a fantastic way to off-load everything you need to do and everything you ‘want’ to do. I find, the ‘want’ seems to stay somewhere in the distance when the ‘need to dos’ take over.

How can writing a simple list be classed as therapeutic writing? Try it and see how therapeutic it feels. Even more so, see how therapeutic it feels when you can start ticking off the things you have achieved. Especially, ‘your wants’ list.

So in this exercise, the key is to write 2 lists …

Your first list is your ‘need to do’ list – this could be anything from making kids packed lunches to filing tax returns … get scribbling away! If it helps think about your chores throughout the day, write down the things you MUST do daily.

Your second list is your ‘want to do’ list – this is all the things you would love to squeeze in; this could be a drink with friends, buying a new pair of shoes or simply have a relaxing bath without a child coming in to use the toilet! Obviously, you might want to elaborate a bit more than relaxing baths, such as, developing a new career, starting a healthier lifestyle or achieving a goal that is out of your comfort zone.

Only you can decide what to put on your list, as these are your ‘wants’ – you’ll realise once you start focusing and achieving these ‘wants’ life becomes a happier place to be. A happier place leads to an increase in positive energy, once your positive energy increases so will your focus.

Once you have your lists, you will complete the ‘need to dos’ and they will be a priority, but now focus on something you would love to do. Can you put steps in place to work towards these ‘want’ daily? Even choose one of your ‘wants’ to work towards.


What can you do to start ticking off your ‘want’ list?

Talking about serious personal-development ‘wants’ now – your ‘want’ could be that you’d like to start your own business, you’d like to experiment with a new hobby or you’d like to change a habit. These goals may not seem like a priority to you, however, making them a priority will enhance your well-being and mindfulness. Doing something you love can often make people feel guilty, but focus on the feel-good factor and watch your life improve ten-fold.

Once you focus on what you want from life, you will receive more of what you want. Focus on being grateful for all that you receive and the opportunities available to you – grab your life with both hands. Remember that the universe is always projecting back to us our thoughts. So whatever we focus on, we gain more of. So focus on what you want and make your life amazing.

How To Ask Angels For Help – A to Z Inspirational Blog; A is for Angels with Angel Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

I’m not sure the actual point in my life when I started to really ask my angels for help. I’ve always believed there are signs around us, telling us if we are moving in the right direction, I truly believe we are constantly being guided by signs. I also believe fully in the Law of Attraction and being guided by the Universe.

So although, I can’t remember the exact moment in my life when I became aware of signs from the angels, however, most of us turn to spiritually because of ‘a reason’. Something has happened in our lives that force us to seek help outside of the ‘perceived’ physical world we live in. When you begin to realise that our angels are always with us, you won’t just ask for their help in times of need, you’ll be forever grateful for their constant intervention, support and love.

Once this becomes second nature, when there are times of emotional or physical upheaval, you will deal with your problems, barriers and circumstances in a calmer and more positive way.

So how can you do this? How can you connect with your angels and silence your mind?

There are several ways you can connect with your angels, however, I highly recommend, the lady who is renowned as the Queen of Angel Therapy, Doreen Virtue, you can see some of her books here that I recommend. I personally, carry around an angel in my purse at all times, plus, I wear a feathered angel wing necklace and bracelet. I’d also like to start the New Year with one of my popular Therapeutic Creative Writing Exercises, on how you can notice signs from the angels.

Therapeutic Creative Writing Exercise

This week, let’s start with a bit of ‘free writing’. Free writing is a form of therapy that can help you understand your emotions, feelings and thoughts better. So, find yourself a quiet space; space where you feel comfortable and can relax. The trick is to close your eyes for 10-20 seconds and let your thoughts flow. Let all those thoughts that collide with each other flow through your mind, then write. That’s it! Free writing is a great way to express your emotions, by writing them down you can actually see your thoughts on paper. It’s said that we have between 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day, which is between 35-48 thoughts per minute per person. That’s a lot of thinking! So hopefully you can see by writing down your thoughts, it will help you to see a pattern or give you more clarity.

Write for as long as you need, some people may need 10 minutes, some may need an hour. But once you have finished, read through your thoughts and as you do try to signify where you need help. This could be a situation with your career, family, relationships, health, whatever you feel is holding you back at the moment, bring that to life. Write down how the angels could help you. You don’t need to write down every time you would like help from the angels, but in this exercise, it will help, because you can identify where you would like the angels to help.

Once you feel as if you can ask for help, do so. Simply ask. Sometimes we may be asking for something but the Angels believe we deserve better, or it’s not the right time. They will deliver when the time is right. But you must keep the faith and believe. In the words of Doreen Virtue:

Inspirational Words: How To Manifest Your Dreams Through Excitement

This week’s positive word

on our A-Z Inspirational Journey …

Yes, I’m using EX instead X in this inspirational blog journey, plus there are so many positive words that can be used for ‘E’ alone, and there are so many words that can be used for EX, that I decided to jazz up this A-Z a little. No this is not a cop-out, I don’t want to start making words up, although, I do actually LOVE making words up. Many authors make words up. The author I admire the most for the best made-up words is Roald Dahl, with words such as Whizzpopper and Trogglehumper (you can see more of Roald Dahl’s fantastic words here).

But I disgress, but it’s little things like this that I get excited about. Yes, I get excited about new words and about Roald Dahl’s books. My girls are at an age where they are loving his stories, so it’s exciting to watch their faces as they discover his fabulous stories.

So, let’s talking about the words and let’s dicuss excitement … what is it you’re actually excited about? Anything?

If you ask many people this question, they get stumped. They haven’t got a holiday booked … they haven’t got any nights out planned … because they feel as if they should have something prepared in their lives. Something they can look forward too. Now I’ve asked that question if you’re one of those people now thinking, but I haven’t got anything planned … how boring is my life? I have nothing to be excited about. Think again …

See, here’s the thing, I think it’s important to be excited about something daily, and if I was only excited about a holiday coming up (which we haven’t got coming up and haven’t booked anywhere, as of yet), I’d be pretty damn miserable with my life. I’d be pretty upset that I was excited about something that was happening six months away. What’s to be excited about in between that? What do you have to be excited about daily or even weekly?

It’s like when people are happy that it’s a Friday and the weekend has arrived. I remember those days, and I swear they were painful. If you’re there now, let’s look at how we can help you get excited about your life again. How Monday mornings can become the new Friday nights …



We live in a society where unhappiness has become accepted. People are unhappy because they don’t have the best job, they are working 9-5 to pay the bills, there’s a constant demand on time and money. We watch over people achieving their dreams and goals and this upsets us, because why can they do it and we can’t.

It’s all about mind set … those who are living the life that you want to live is because they dreamed it, believed it and made it happen. They were excited about their days ahead and were grateful for all that they had. Getting up every morning and complaining will only lead to more complaining, because looking at everything that’s wrong in your life will only lead to more things to complain about, when there is so much to be grateful for and excited about.

When I first watched the secret, I realised why things were going wrong in my life. I wasn’t being grateful at all. Life was hard. A struggle. I manifested more struggling. When I turned this around, when I got excited because a bill had been paid (even excited about the late bill payments) and truly grateful, life started to offer more to me. The more I became excited, then more I had to be excited about. I would be excited about food in the cupboard, a treat at the shops … I love the following quote, it says it all …

It was hard work being positive when I felt there was little to be positive about. However, once I changed my thoughts around my life started to change. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a robot. Yes, believe me even as a Law of Attraction & NLP Practitioner, I have days were I hit a brick wall and have to really bring that excitement into my life. I’m human … with a busy life of running a household, looking after two kids and a hubby who works away a lot … life can feel as if I’m on the magic roundabout … yes, with the drugs. But I know how to work my thoughts so that the day will go as planned and I will have little or no drama. Yes, we still have the odd drama, such as the boiler breaking down, a leak from the kitchen tap that sprayed like a waterfall … but these are things that happen. I don’t think it’s bad luck. The boiler is 10 years old, we’ve done well to get this far. Plus, I was grateful we just needed 2 main parts replacing not a completely new boiler. The tap needed fixing, so was bound to explode at some point, and was actually rather funny when I ran outside to some workmen, shouting for help like some kind of, ‘Damsel in Distress’ – who did help me, after looking at me like I’d been let out for the day. You see, there’s always a way of looking at the negatives.

We put so much pressure on ourselves that we don’t enjoy the day-to-day living. Once the day-to-day living is enjoyed, life becomes an exciting journey. Remember that feeling as a child? Being excited about the simplest things …

So what am I excited about today? Well, believe it or not, it’s new app!

I have so much I WANT to achieve in life that there’s not enough hours in the day. So if there’s a way I can multi-task and kill two birds with one stone, I will. Usually when I walk Daisy, our gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, I will listen to an audio book from audible. However, because I’ve had so many ideas for my fiction I’ve been on a mssion to get my next book moving. So I’ve searched high and low for an app that I can speak into and it will write out the text for me. I found some that were rubbish … however, I’ve found one called Dragon Dictation. I think it’s brilliant and I used it for the first time today to help with this blog post.

It means I can walk along, talking to myself, without looking crazy (because it looks like I’m on my phone). When I’ve finished dictating, there is a quick and easy way to forward the text to a variety of places. So I simply pressed the email icon and it’s emailed to me. How awesome is that?

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not word perfect. I was excited to get home and see some of the interpretations. Here’s a few that made me giggle:

this could be something as simple as a daisy daisy (This last bit is me shouting at the dog …) That did make me giggle (little things 🙂 )

yes I’m leaving me with the law of attraction practitioner in Hanapepe who (I have no idea how I’m going to leave myself and is Hanapepe an actual place?)

very exciting because I am now door when I want to listen because I love the skin (I couldn’t work out what on earth I was trying to say here)

But other than the above, most of it was correct.

It’s little things like this that I get excited about, so when the big things happen, I’m ecstatic. This brilliant app, has just allowed me to do two jobs at once. It’s awesome.

If you read my blog posts, you’ll understand being a LAO Practitioner, I’m an avid manifestation and visualisation user. There are things in my life that I’ve manifested by being excited about them before they’ve actually arrived in my life. There are things I’ve seen other people manifest because of believing and feeling that excitement before it arrives.

So this week’s creative writing exercise is, How to Manifest your Dreams through Excitement. It’s best to read through the steps before starting this exercise …

  1. Start by writing down what it is you want.
    • I love using the analogy – ‘wanting a promotion’ … this could relate to moving up the career ladder, setting-up your own business, promoting your life in some way that would benefit you. Maybe you would like to lose weight, be healthier or fitter: Write this down and try to be as specific as you can.


  1. Now you need to take 5-10 minutes out to relax. Breathe deeply … and let’s role-play. (Children find it easier to manifest because they don’t have the barriers or blockages that have built upon us layer by layer over the years …) let the barriers go and believe anything is possible.


  1. Now imagine receiving an email or letter telling you of this new promotion. Imagine you’ve just got your first sale or good review with your new business. Imagine standing on the scales or measuring your body and being the size you aim to be. You’ve reached your goal. The universe has delivered your wishes. It’s yours. How does that feel? Feel and breathe that excitement. No barriers or blockages … It’s yours, how does that feel? At this point, if you would like to, you can open your eyes and write down how you feel. Keep these words for step 5.


  1. Close your eyes again, imagine your dressing for the job. This new promotion, new business or dream of yours may require a new outfit. You maybe imagining yourself slimmer, fitter and healthier. How would you feel if you could fit into that dress that you so desperately want to wear?

If you haven’t an outfit in mind, this is a great manifesting technique. Choose the outfit you would love to wear if you were slimmer … imagine that feeling of wearing that outfit. Imagine that feeling of slipping into that dress, and know what you have to do to get there. This is your chance to take that step towards a happier life. Just feel the excitement of being there, living it and wearing it.

Even if it’s not truly happening around you, believe it is, live your days as if it is and watch your dreams manifest. Feel the excitement. If you’re feeling excited about your goal, you’ll find yourself naturally working towards it. The universe will help you when you give out excitement it will give you more to be excited about.


  1. The last step is to imagine you have received your goal/dream etc. and with the excitement you feel gratitude and appreciation. Be thankful. The words you wrote out earlier regarding your excited feelings, bring them into affirmations. For example: I feel amazing and so grateful for now being the manager of the store … (obviously fill in your dream). Whenever you’re feeling low or flat, you can read these and remember that excitement. Gratitude and appreciation will help you feel excited about things to come.

Now, it’s important to say here, you may do all of the above and you may not receive what you wanted. Firstly go back over your steps and ensure you are feeling the excitement daily. Sometimes our dreams can take days, weeks, months or years … it depends how big the dream is.

You’ll have heard the quote: ‘It takes 20 years to make an overnight success – Eddie Cantor’. If you have vision and a dream, be excited about it before it happens. Bring that excitement into your life. NEVER GIVE UP.

If it’s something that you feel could happen instantly and it doesn’t, and you may think the Law of Attraction isn’t working … well, the Law of Attraction is always working but so are the Angels. So if the Angels know there is something better for you out there, they will point you in the right direction. Keep your eyes open for exciting opportunities.

You may be feeling so frustrated but it’s important to NEVER TO GIVE UP. Be excited that you’re communicating the angels. Many people find this hard because most have to see to believe, but when it comes to the Law of Attraction the key is to believe to see.

But unfortunately, unless you have some kind of miraculous time-machine hanging about, there’s not much you can do about yesterday, except work on today and change your tomorrow.

If there’s something you want to change – you can do that today!

If there’s something that is upsetting you – think about how you can make it right! If you can’t make it right, then work on something you can make right and try and move forward.

Worrying about what happened yesterday is only going to damage your ability to move forward today.

Well, this is a big word!

Heard of it?

No neither had I until I was searching for the right X-inspirational word, and then I came across this and loved its meaning.

Xenodochial is an adjective describing something – such as a person, place or software application — that is friendly to strangers. “Xenos” is a Greek word for “strangers;” according to the Oxford English Dictionary, xenodochial means “hospitable.
