10 Ways To Nourish Your Mind

Are you nourishing your mind?

In my last blog post on N is for Nourish, I talked about the importance of nourishing the mind. So this week, I thought I’d talk about ways in which you CAN nourish your mind.

When your mind is nourished, your body and soul will follow. Having a healthy mind is the first steps to having a healthy body & soul. Looking after your mind’s wellbeing is the key to living a happy life.

So here are some ways you can give your mind some TLC:

1.GO FOR A WALK

This is one of my favourites. Getting some fresh air is a great way to feel refreshed because it provides energy and the oxygen intake allows us to feel better. So a twenty-minute walk a day can really help to fight negative emotions, feelings and thoughts.

2. READ / LISTEN TO AUDIO BOOKS

Being a writer, I’m an avid reading. As much as I love fiction, I also love spiritual, inspirational and motivational books. Books that really help me grow and connect with my inner-self & guides. So if I am walking, I will stick on my headphones and listen to books about angels, past-lives, soul-development, living with passion etc. Being certified in the Law of Attraction, I practice mindfulness daily. It truly is important to keep our thoughts positive. When our minds are fresh and in a good place, as the Law of Attraction tells us, we’ll attract good things to us.

3. READ POSITIVE MESSAGES/QUOTES & AFFIRMATIONS

You will find endless positivity on my blog and my shop. When times were at their worst; I was pregnant with our second child, living at my in-laws (because my ex-husband’s business had taken a downward slope practically overnight), we had no idea when we would be able to afford to move out … it was all a bit of a mess! My own family weren’t around to support and it was a very hard time. However, it was at this point in my life when I started to collect inspirational quotes. I would write them down onto a spreadsheet and I couldn’t believe how much it helped.

I realised I had so much to be grateful for. I was pregnant with our 2nd child, how could I not be relishing in this love. We were so lucky that we didn’t need treatment, that I fell pregnant so easily (trust me, if anyone knows anything about depression and sex-drive, you’ll get that we were VERY lucky to fall pregnant so easily!). I was extremely grateful for that. We had a roof over our heads and my in-laws were so lovely, they really looked after us.

So once, I started to look at life from a gratitude point of view, my world changed. It wasn’t long before my husband got a business opportunity and we moved into a 2-bedroomed house, which we rented, but I was so grateful that we had the opportunity to move our life forward & not look at the negative. Since then, I read positive quotes & affirmations daily & I create my own. Hence the reason I set-up my online shop, as I feel it is important to surround yourself with reminders that you do have so much love to give and so much to be grateful for. You can also download my free inspirational messages book, which will show you how to make your own inspirational box.

4. WRITE DOWN POSITIVE MESSAGES/QUOTES & AFFIRMATIONS

As above, it’s just as important to write down quotes & affirmations. I think this really helped me. Just putting them into a spreadsheet. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but it truly helped. I did eventually make them into ‘annual quote a day’ books, and the process truly helped. It still does now. I’m a true believer this really works. In fact, my own quote is:

‘Positive messages throughout the day help to keep the negative thoughts away.’

You don’t need to use a spreadsheet, you can use a notebook or something that will inspire you. Buy a blackboard or a noticeboard and write down an affirmation/quote for the day. This will help the whole family come from a place of love and believe in themselves. Perfect for inspiring children. Just like the downloadable inspirational quotes will help to lift our children so that they become well-rounded adults who believe in themselves.

5. THERAPEUTIC WRITING

Now, this is my thing! Being an author, of course, I love writing and I love writing my inspirational blog, so I’m bound to say writing helps. But it’s actually a renowned form of therapy. It’s a great way to explore your emotions. The best way is to simply write, without thinking about WHAT you are writing. Just write. It’s like allowing your mind to be released of any pent-up frustrations. The best of it is, with therapeutic writing, you don’t need to be the best writer, best speller or know your grammar, because that’s not what it is about. It’s about writing for you and releasing toxic thoughts.

You will find writing prompts in my A-Z positive word blog.

Just pick a letter you’d like to work on, read the quotes and have a go at the exercise.

I found it also helps, that once my thoughts have been released, is to then think about what I want from a situation, so I write a ‘fantasy page’, I put out my desires to the universe but on paper, as if I’ve already received them, as if my desires have already happened and how that makes me feel. The thing with the Law of Attraction is, people struggle with imagination, so by writing down how something would make you feel, it’s easier to imagine it. It’s not only a great way to release, but it’s a great way to bring joy into your life. Experts at League City Integrative Counseling and Wellness will offer you guidance and expert advice.

6. LISTEN TO MUSIC / MEDITATE

When many people hear the word meditation, they believe that they can’t meditate, because they can’t sit still for five minutes and think of nothing. Admittedly, I found this a struggle at first, but after trying guided meditations I soon learned how to meditate alone. However, I found that music can be a huge avenue to relaxation, I found this out when I went to a Gabrielle Bernstein seminar. She played, ‘Titanium’ by Madilyn Bailey, she asked us all to stand up, close our eyes, put our hands in the air and feel the music … even as I write this I get shivers.

The feeling of joy and calmness filled my body. Since then, I truly listen to the music. I truly listen to the words and feel the music. A great way to listen to music is when you are out walking or when you are in the car (obviously not to close your eyes, but to feel it) … my girls and I are always blasting music and singing at the top of our voices. They had a friend in the car just yesterday, we blasted some music, we sang, we got our groove on … her friend said, ‘I never want to leave this car.’ It’s amazing how much a good sing-song can release those endorphins … so choose some of your favourite songs and get blasting those vocal cords.

7. START A PROJECT OF LOVE

Do something you love. This could be a scrapbook of a holiday, party or significant life event. Put aside some time to create something. If you’re not a creative person, do something that makes you happy. A passion project that will have you excited.

8. DECLUTTER / MAKE SPACE

This is kind of a given in the world of feng-shui. Clutter and mess can cause disorganisation. Now, I always say I have an ‘organised mess’ because I know where everything is, however, I have to admit I do work better when I’m not surrounded by wildness (I don’t mean nature, although, often feels like I’m sat in the middle of a zoo). There’s a wonderful feeling when you clear out the clutter that is causing your mind to feel like a chaotic roundabout. So book a day in your diary and clear out those cupboards … you may have things you can give to charity or for a car boot sale, whichever, you will feel such a calming release once you are decluttered.

9. INDULGE IN A CROSSWORD/WORDSEARCH/SUDOKU/JIGSAW PUZZLE

This to some people may sound extremely boring, but trust me, these activities truly work. Find something that you’re interested in, even sitting down to a colour therapy book is a great way to switch off, because your mind is concentrating on the task at hand, so other worries can be pushed to the back of your mind.

10. LIMIT TECHNOLOGY TIME

In this day and age, this last one is like swearing at people. How on earth did we live without such technology? When I was a teenager, I remember sitting on the stairs to use the house phone and making sure my sister didn’t pick up the other phone to listen in on our conversation. How times have changed? Don’t get me wrong … I do love the way technology has moved on and things we can do today are amazing, it makes running a business much easier: I can sit in my car on the school run and work on my phone – however, there comes a point when it’s too much. One of the sayings we’ve used as a family is, ‘When in the room, be in the room!’ This means, engage with each other. Make time for each other. Listen to each other. Spend time without our heads in any kind of technological device.

Uplifting Quotes To Keep Your Mind Positive

Are you controlling your mind, or is it controlling you?

Our minds are so powerful, you might not even know the answer to this question.

We spend much of our days going from one thing to another, daily tasks being fulfilled, starting our day on the mission we intended and when the day is over, sometimes we’ve achieved that mission and other days, not so much. We can end our days tired and worn out, wondering what it’s all about. This is where you’re letting your mind control you. You are letting your thoughts wander, we let our outer world take over our inner selves. We get caught up in life, expectations, demands, deadlines, pressures that we forget actually we have control.

We have the ability to control our lives, control our thoughts, control our destination.

We get to choose HOW we respond to things that are happening in our lives.

When you really think about this, it’s extremely powerful!

The Law of Attraction is always working … therefore whatever you’re thinking about, you are putting out to the Universe and the Universe is delivering those thoughts back to you in situations, circumstances, etc. So, again, if you read the imagination blog post, have a go at playing the imagination game.

Usually, we can take command of our thoughts because we notice our mood isn’t as high as we would like it to be … if you’re feeling this way, ask yourself why you feel this way … but then don’t let yourself dwell on this. I understand it’s not as easy as, ‘snap out of it,’ that’s why thinking in a positive light is something to work on for yourself. Once you start realising your negative thoughts are bringing your emotions down, you will soon be able to adapt these thoughts. The quickest way to turn this around is appreciation. Once you look at life with abundance and fulfilment, you’ll soon wipe out those feelings of lack. So train your mind to come from a place of love and gratitude and watch your world change.

Do you find yourself procrastinating? Do you have lots of things you are juggling and find it hard to prioritise?

Staying focused can be a hard task to achieve if you’ve got 101 things running through your mind. We often have work, family and other commitments to adhere to. However, if you have a goal or a dream you would like to fulfil, it’s important to put steps in place to ensure you achieve your desires. Small steps count. If it helps to put small goals in place to achieve your bigger goals, then do this. This most definitely helps with staying focused.

How To Concentrate On Your Victories, Not Your Defeats – A to Z Inspirational Blog; V is for Victory with Victorious Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

V IS FOR VICTORY

We can feel victory in certain areas of our life, but our aim is to feel victorious in all areas of our life. Now, yes, this may mean hard work is needed in certain areas. But read the quote above …

I do love this quote, because if you have the fight in you; if you refuse to give up on your dreams, your soul purpose, you will achieve it. You must believe in yourself. You must believe that victory will be yours. You must take your life and live it to the fullest. You can feel victorious if you are working towards something because every day you will achieve another goal; every day you are a step closer. Every day you must reflect on the victory of your success for that day. A daily victory will lead to a life of victory.

To achieve that victorious feeling, you must believe you can do this. You must have faith in your ability. You must keep striving forward and know that you are going to win. Think about the Law of Attraction, whatever your thoughts you are attracting, you are the creator of your life. If you think you can win, you will … if you think you can’t win, you won’t! You will put the effort in where it’s needed if you want to feel victorious. Putting the effort in tells the universe you are willing to work towards your goals … the universe will respond with opportunities to help move you forward.

Talk positively about your goals, drive yourself forward and speak only about your victories, no matter how small they are. Don’t talk about situations not working. Don’t focus on the things that could go wrong. Think about, talk about and embrace all the wonderful things that will go right. Focus on the end goal and the winning. Focus on the victory. If you focus on victory you will bring that to you, if you focus on defeat you will bring that to you. So it’s important to check your thoughts and embrace the feeling of winning, embrace the feeling of achieving, embrace the feeling that you are victorious.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise let’s focus on the victories in life

This week’s exercise is to write daily. At the end of each day write about the achievements you have made, what victories can be celebrated. Small steps count and if you are ticking off boxes you are moving forward.

So every day this week write about your victories. If this helps, you can continue this after the week. It’s something you could get into the habit of doing. Sometimes we feel as if we haven’t got anywhere, we have days where we feel that treadmill is just rolling on and we are just walking through life. Life is happening to us, we’re not making it happen for us … once you start to write down your daily wins you’ll be encouraged to achieve more wins. You’ll feel the surge of energy to get out there and make life happen for you. Go and be victorious!

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

How To Let Your Uniqueness Shine – A to Z Inspirational Blog; U is for Unique with Quotes on Uniqueness and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

U IS FOR UNIQUE

I love this quote from this awesome film because it’s so true. We are all unique in our own special way. Imagine if we all had the same characters, passions, desires, dreams, goals … wouldn’t the world be a boring place? The one thing we should all aim for is love. This includes following our hearts. In some cases, this means we may be judged, however, this says more about the people doing the judging than it does about you. Who are we to judge anyone else? Who are we to say that we are better than anyone else? When we were born into this world, we were given certain talents, that I like to call gifts. We know what these gifts are by our desire to fulfil certain passions. Our aim, while we are here on this physical plane, is to follow these passions and make a difference in this world, through love and understanding.

Anyone who understands the spirituality of a higher power will understand how we are born into this world as souls presented in the human form; our souls have decided we needed to be here at this particular time. It’s only as we grow, spirituality is drawn away from us, as we have to conform to societal rules. Rules that humans have put in place. Rules that have become a norm. Trust me when I say these rules are of human-doing, not God’s. God only comes from a place of love, with that love, he gave us free will. Unfortunately, that free will hasn’t been used to express the love, that was intended, by many. The judgement of others is not coming from a place of love. It’s important that we realise we are all equal, no-one is better than anyone else, we are all unique in our own way. Many people come from a place of fear because they are scared to show their uniqueness.

Fear is the thing that will hold you back from being the unique individual you were put here to be. Once you can let go of this fear, embrace the love you were born with, you will find your uniqueness and you will thrive forward. You will place your faith in a higher power and you will move forward as the wonderful special individual that you are. Once you realise we all come from the same place, we are all here on one mission only; to spread love and joy, you can’t help but understand how your passion (your gift) links into this mission. Once you are following your passion, once you are doing what you love, you can’t help but feel the joy and you can’t help but spread this further afield. Your passion will always inspire and influence someone else. You will be spreading the love without knowing you are doing it.

So, when you use your uniqueness to spread love, not judging others, not allowing the judgement of others to affect you, you let go of fear. You will understand that we are all special. It comes down to choices … choosing to see the special uniqueness of every individual you come into contact with, choosing to shine as the unique person you were put on this earth to be and choosing to embrace the love that comes with this wonderful outlook on life. Embrace your uniqueness, don’t let anyone take that away from you … and don’t you take it away from anyone else.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise let’s write about your uniqueness …

You realise you’re unique, right? You understand you have a magic inside of you that needs to shine, yes?

You must feel this … if you don’t feel it, ask yourself why are you the same as everyone else? Those beliefs, by the way, is just your fear talking, your ego stopping you from expressing the unique and wonderful individual that you are.

In this week’s exercise write about yourself from a 3rd person’s point of view. NOTE:  THIS CANNOT BE NEGATIVE!!! No negativity is allowed in these sessions. Write about yourself as your loved ones see you … all positive … write down all the good qualities people see in you.

Now keep this with you and remind yourself daily, with these notes, about the wonderful, unique person that you are. Read this daily until you believe it, you own it, you are proud of your uniqueness. Read this daily until you feel the love.

Believe in yourself … you got this!

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

How To Start Thriving In Life – A to Z Inspirational Blog; T is for Thrive with Quotes on Thriving and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

T IS FOR THRIVE

It’s hard to thrive at something if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing … this works in all areas of your life. You may find that you are thriving in one area but not in another. Sometimes the areas that we are not thriving in as much can affect other areas of our lives. For example, we may have a wonderful relationship but we are not happy in our work. This work situation may affect your relationship; if you feel tired, worn-out, stressed etc. you won’t want to make the effort with your relationships when you are away from work. When you feel unhappy in one area of your life, it has a chain reaction to the other areas of your life. It’s sometimes hard to switch our feelings off when we are unhappy.

So, what can we do to thrive in every situation?

If we can change it … we should! If we can’t change it, then we can change our attitude and feelings towards it. For example, you may love your work but you may have issues with people you work with. You can’t change these people. Just like people can’t change you (or shouldn’t change you). What we can do is put out to the universe that we want to change our attitude, we want to thrive, we want to live a more peaceful life … You’d be amazed when you start thinking about thriving in certain situations you bring more to you to thrive on.

So how we do we go from ‘just living’ to thriving? If you read my blog posts, you’ll know it comes down to gratefulness, being grateful for the good in your life will help develop your gratefulness throughout other areas of your life and the universe responds by giving you more to be grateful for. Once you become more grateful your attitude automatically changes and this will bring you an abundance of things to be grateful for … an abundance of things to thrive from.

Research, by Daniel Brown, a professor, psychology lecturer, at the University of Portsmouth, showed that a person must possess some (but not necessarily all) certain characteristics to be able to thrive in life, you can see the interesting research here.

Sometimes we feel we have nothing to thrive towards. There are problems, issues, life is just going along on its treadmill and we wonder what it is we should be thriving towards. The best way forward with this is to change your attitude towards your life. Look for the love. Take one of the situations that you feel is unthriving, and ask yourself, ‘If I can’t change it, what can I do to feel better about it?’ Once you start to thrive in one area of your life, the others areas will fall into place too. It’s amazing how our feelings towards a certain life situation can take up our whole being. So rather than a negative situation taking up your whole being, work on your attitude towards these feelings and watch how your world changes.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise let’s write about thriving in life.

Take one situation in your life that you wish you could thrive in … this could be work, relationships, hobbies … anything where you feel you are lacking. An area of your life you wish you could improve.

Now, free-write how you would feel if you could thrive in this area of your life. Visualise how you would feel and then write these feelings down. How would it feel to get out of bed every morning, thriving in just this one area of your life? Now imagine how this would impact the other areas of your life and write down the positivity this could bring to all areas of your life. Write down the chain reaction you think this could have. Write down how you could thrive in other areas of your life if you made changes to one area.

Now … ask yourself, how can I make these changes? When will I make these changes? Put a plan in place to start thriving … you got this!

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

Follow Your Soul And Live A Divine Life – A to Z Inspirational Blog; S is for Soul with Soul Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

S IS FOR SOUL

I love this quote by Marianne Williamson. Our souls have travelled through many lives. The body in which we live is simply the home for our soul. Our soul represents who we truly are. If you have an interest in something, you will more than likely find this interest relates to a past life interest, because it is our soul that holds our passions. Regression is a hypnotic state that can connect your soul to your previous lives. This may all sound far-fetched to those who are not spiritual or religious believers, however, there are certain things in life we are scared of but we’re not sure why, or things we are drawn to. These are usually linked to our past lives. There is a TV programme called, The Ghost Inside My Child, which features children who remember their past lives. Some of the children could describe in-depth details about their previous life. Some parents researched their child’s claims, such as names and events, and found evidence that what their child was telling them, was true.

Dr Wayne Dyer’s book, Memories of Heaven, is a collection of stories from children who remember their past lives. It’s a brilliant and intriguing read. After reading this I wanted to talk to as many children as I could to try and see if they could remember anything. As babies, our soul starts the life journey again, but because our souls haven’t been trained into the conformity of society, as babies, we are open. It’s only as we grow that we are influenced by society and our minds shut-off from miracles and magic … shut-off from the prospect that we are much bigger than ourselves. That we are one.

Sometimes we are drawn to certain people. We hear the term, ‘soulmate’, usually referred to when lovers meet, however, I believe we have a few soulmates that extend beyond the ‘lover relationship’, it could be family members, friends or people who we meet in passing who have been in our previous lives and were needed for a short amount of time in this life. Others join us in this life early on and stay with us. Whoever we meet, we decide this before our soul arrives here. Just as our soul drives us towards our passions, which is also a decided and known factor before we arrive here on this physical plane.

So imagine that all you needed to focus on was your soul’s desire. Where would your soul take you? What would make you jump out of bed every morning? What are your passions, dreams, goals etc.? These are the things your soul wants you to do. Some of it may not be easy to achieve, in fact, it may seem impossible, but you have that urge and desire for a reason … it’s your soul’s reason for being. It’s the reason your soul chose this life. There are always reasons behind something happening. I’m not a believer in coincidences, I believe we are put in certain situations through the divine, angels and universe to bring our attention to certain things. Often as a wake-up call … to get us to think about our journey. If something happens that seems like a coincidence, we may talk about it with friends and speculate how weird it is. This is us trying to understand the universe at work, something has our attention and for good reason, it’s our job to figure out what that reason is.

When we arrive on this physical plane, Earth, we already have ambitions of the life we will fulfil, the world is an open book and we arrive with every intention of making this life mean something. As mentioned above, as we grow this is often forgotten as we fit into the mould that is expected of us, but it’s never too late to break that mould. It’s never too late to listen to your soul, listen to the universe, listen to the angels, they will be constantly trying to guide you in the right direction, but it’s up to you to listen and watch out for the signs.

God gave us free will, so we can make choices about the life we want to live while we are here. But what will make you happier and more content than you can imagine is following your soul’s desire. Your purpose. Your passion. Anyone who listens to the divine within will live a happier, more fulfilled life.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise let’s discover your soul’s purpose …

Before we do any free writing, I’d like you to sit quietly for 5 or 10 minutes. While you are sitting quietly try to connect with your soul. This means going deep into yourself, understanding what it is you are doing here, what is your soul telling you … ask yourself, why are you here? What’s your purpose … you will have one.

Once you feel you have connected, write down what you were feeling, don’t think about it, just free write these feelings down. Just express yourself freely and allow your soul to come forward. Allow yourself the freedom to listen to your heart. Where is it taking you? Are you fulfilling your purpose? If not, what can you do to fulfil that purpose? What changes can you make? What steps can you put in place so you can follow your soul purpose?

Become A More Radiant You; A to Z Inspirational Blog; R is for Radiance with Radiance Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

R IS FOR RADIANCE

Do you know anyone who pours with radiance? Is there anyone who sticks in your mind as a positive, happy person who always looks on the bright side life? Wouldn’t you like to be that person? Wouldn’t you like to be the person who shines so bright, people need sunglasses on to talk to you. I joke … but think about it … how wonderful it would be to be the person who makes others feel great.

People who are radiant aren’t the most attractive, most beautiful on the outside … radiance doesn’t come from outer appearance, it comes from within. The most attractive and beautiful people are those who are radiant from the inside. People who share their inner radiance with others. They spread it around like glitter, their sparkle is left upon others when they leave their company.

So this may all sound fluffy and a bit far-fetched, but think about it … there are people who you will meet and they are always happy. They are always radiant and positive. What we need to understand is, these people have chosen this radiance, no matter what has happened in their life, they have chosen to be positive and spread their joy. Just because they are loving, caring and happy people, it doesn’t mean they haven’t been through any adversity, it means they have chosen to look on the bright side of life. They have chosen to live through love and gratefulness.

Audrey Hepburn, an amazing soul, once said, ‘True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows.’ Here, she is talking about a woman’s radiance. Those that come from a place of love show their radiance through their actions. This doesn’t just go for women obviously, men too can be radiant. Personality and character are the things people remember. The way you made someone feel is what they will remember about you, whether you’re a man or a woman … you will be remembered for your presence.

Do you want to be remembered as the person who always had problems or the mood-hoover who sucks the life out of people with your negativity? I truly hope not … I truly hope you want to be remembered as the person who gives always, always comes from a place of love, the person people like to be around … the person that when people leave your company, they feel warm, light and refreshed.

How do you become more radiant? Again, I go back to basics, start with your gratitude list. Your gratitude list gives you a reason to be happy. Focus on what is important in your life, what do you appreciate? What makes your life amazing? What makes you happy? When you focus on the good in life, you can’t help but become more radiant. Your joy will seep through and it is your job to spread this joy. It is your job to soak up your radiance and sprinkle it around.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise imagine you a bright light that inspires others.

You are shining from within, your glow is contagious, you spread love, joy and happiness wherever you go. People want to be like you. You inspire people. You are the person that makes people feel wonderful when they’ve left your company …

Free-write about how this feels. How would it feel to make people feel like they too can shine within? They too can be as radiant as you? This exercise is about feeling that joy from within, this exercise is about feelings … how wonderful it would be to spread your radiance. Feel it … and write about it.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

The Key To A Peaceful Life Is A Quiet Mind – A to Z Inspirational Blog; Q is for Quiet with Quiet Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

Q IS FOR QUIET

Last week I talked about finding your inner peace. That can be quite difficult to do when you can’t quiet your mind. So we talked about meditation last week and how meditation is a great way to find your peace. I hope you found a way to meditate that suits you. Sometimes we just need to quiet our minds from our busy lives, meditation is a great way to do this. We may have found our inner peace, but this doesn’t mean that our minds are always quiet. So in those moments, it is best to take time out to find your quietness.

You may feel you don’t have time to take time out. But you’ll be amazed at how taking half an hour, or even fifteen minutes to re-adjust your thoughts, can lead to a more productive life. When we are in the midst of our busy lives, we often think if we just keep going, if we work our backsides off then we are living up to the standards of our modern world. I remember when I use to arrive at work for 7.30am, I would often skip my lunch break to fulfil tasks and would usually be one of the last to leave … was I happy? Hell, NO! Firstly, I didn’t like my job because I wasn’t fulfilling my passion. I thought the harder I worked, I’d more likely be promoted … however, this was a time before I was introduced to the Law of Attraction. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to be promoted, as I hated the job. I was so negative about everything and I was so tired on a night, I couldn’t think happy quiet thoughts. I was miserable. That misery was projected in the workplace and to the universe … so guess what, guys … I received more misery. I didn’t get promoted and had a ‘woe is me’ attitude to life. I look back and could give my younger self a little slap! In a loving way of course.

Now, I’ve followed my passion, that’s not saying it’s been easy, but I followed my gut instinct, I’ve listened to where I feel the angels and God need me to serve. I watched my life unfold as I’ve changed my thoughts. My quiet mind has helped me to progress in life in ways I never thought imaginable. I do have an over-active mind, but that’s because I want to do so much in this lifetime. I get excited about life. I want you to be excited about life. You can do this when you have a quiet mind.

One of my favourite ways to quiet my mind is walking. Especially walking in the countryside, across the hills and exploring. There’s nothing better than breathing in fresh air, taking in our glorious nature and being part of the wonderful views. It’s one of the most exhilarating experiences. It’s one of the best ways to listen to your thoughts.

Walking in the hills may not be ‘your thing’, or maybe you live in a place that doesn’t have quick access to hills and mountains to climb, but it’s important to find something that is ‘your thing’. It’s important to relax so you can move forward. We live in a world that is full of busy. Busy lives. Busy people. Busy. Busy. Busy. You’ll hear people saying, ‘I haven’t got time to meditate, relax or walk amongst the glorious heather …’ I jest, but you get the picture … people don’t have time to quieten their minds. These are the people that need it the most. These are the people who need to find their quiet.

People don’t realise that stopping and relaxing, to find their quiet and inner peace, will help to bring them more joy. Getting off the treadmill of life is the best therapy. Stepping off for a while is not only great to quiet the mind, it is essential for your soul. It is essential to keep refreshed. Once you have stepped away from the hustle and bustle, once you step back into it, you’ll become more productive. Taking time out is essential in moving forward. A quiet and peaceful mind leads to a quiet and peaceful body which in turn leads to a quiet and peaceful soul.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise free-write about all the things that are keeping your mind loud.

I realise this could come across as a negative exercise, but actually, sometimes we need to empty our minds of all the ‘stuff’ that is swirling around. This is a great way to empty your head. This writing exercise can actually help to quieten your mind. This could be something you could do daily. This is why many people write diaries and journals, as it helps to get it out of the mind onto paper.

In this exercise, you can write about your to-do list, your worries, the things that keep you awake at night … empty your mind onto paper … anything that will help to quiet your mind.

If it helps, meditate before this exercise or sit somewhere quiet before emptying your thoughts onto paper.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

How To Find Your Inner Peace – A to Z Inspirational Blog; P is for Peace with Peace Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

P IS FOR PEACE

This is another of my favourite words. I know, I have many favourite words … but just say the word, ‘peace’.

Peace.

The word itself conjures up so much meaning; tranquillity, quiet, stillness, calm, restful, freedom … if you breathe the word quietly when you’re alone you can almost feel the air around you change.

However, the less inner peace you have, the harder it will be to have outer peace. So breathing the word ‘Peace’ quietly may not have such an impact on you, if your mind is skating around. If the hustle and bustle of life is taking over your thoughts and taking over your being, then you are going to struggle with peace.

Peace is something that you become. It can take practice to become peaceful, but if you can achieve it, it is one of the best feelings in the world, because no matter what is going on around you, you’ll have the ability to stay calm and self-assured. Being at peace means you don’t entertain the negative impact others could have in your life, you override these thoughts because your inner peace is so deep, so pure that others can’t have an effect on you. Yes, you may feel a little sting, that’s natural if you feel you’re being judged or criticised, but if you’re always coming from a place of love, you are not one to judge and criticise others, then you will bounce back quicker. You want to be able to get to a point in your life, where you are hardly ever faced with negativity because you send out so much love, that all you receive back is love. Any negativity is like hitting a shield and the odd comment may burn through the shield but you can easily let it go. When you are at this point, you know the true meaning of inner peace.

How easy is it to become peaceful? Personally, I believe it’s easy if you can live from a place of love. Love for yourself and love for others. Living a life of non-judgement and gratefulness is definitely the way to start. As I always suggest, start by writing your gratitude list. This is one of the most effective ways to come from a place of love.

Some of our most famous inspirational leaders found inner peace through meditation. You may think of meditation as sitting quietly, many people who have busy lives find this hard. I most certainly did when I was first introduced to it and to be honest, it’s not my favourite way to meditate. I find Gabrielle Bernstein’s way of mediating the most effective. Her music is perfect. Sometimes it’s just about putting music on and doing nothing. You’ll be amazed at how productive you feel after.

If you’re not feeling at peace with yourself, ask yourself, what can you do to change this? What can you do about it? If changes need to be made for you to find peace, then make these changes. It may take time to make the changes, but it’s about choices. You must choose to find your peace. Our time here is precious. We must appreciate that we are more than ourselves. We serve a bigger purpose than ourselves. When you follow your passion, when you follow your heart, you will find your soul purpose … this in itself will lead to inner peace. Come from a place of love and watch your world change.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise think about your world when you have inner peace.

Firstly before any writing, try to meditate. As I said, I recommend Gabrielle Berstein, you can pick up her free guided meditation on her website. Once you have participated in meditation that suits you, (you may need to experiment), if you’re not keen on Gabrielle’s methods, there are plenty of others you can research and try.

Once you have done this, then write. Freewrite about what you feel when you have inner peace. Concentrate on the feeling inside, not the material things in life, the feelings that come from within. Once you have these feelings conquered your outer world will fall into place.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.
