10 Ways To Nourish Your Mind

Are you nourishing your mind?

In my last blog post on N is for Nourish, I talked about the importance of nourishing the mind. So this week, I thought I’d talk about ways in which you CAN nourish your mind.

When your mind is nourished, your body and soul will follow. Having a healthy mind is the first steps to having a healthy body & soul. Looking after your mind’s wellbeing is the key to living a happy life.

So here are some ways you can give your mind some TLC:

1.GO FOR A WALK

This is one of my favourites. Getting some fresh air is a great way to feel refreshed because it provides energy and the oxygen intake allows us to feel better. So a twenty-minute walk a day can really help to fight negative emotions, feelings and thoughts.

2. READ / LISTEN TO AUDIO BOOKS

Being a writer, I’m an avid reading. As much as I love fiction, I also love spiritual, inspirational and motivational books. Books that really help me grow and connect with my inner-self & guides. So if I am walking, I will stick on my headphones and listen to books about angels, past-lives, soul-development, living with passion etc. Being certified in the Law of Attraction, I practice mindfulness daily. It truly is important to keep our thoughts positive. When our minds are fresh and in a good place, as the Law of Attraction tells us, we’ll attract good things to us.

3. READ POSITIVE MESSAGES/QUOTES & AFFIRMATIONS

You will find endless positivity on my blog and my shop. When times were at their worst; I was pregnant with our second child, living at my in-laws (because my ex-husband’s business had taken a downward slope practically overnight), we had no idea when we would be able to afford to move out … it was all a bit of a mess! My own family weren’t around to support and it was a very hard time. However, it was at this point in my life when I started to collect inspirational quotes. I would write them down onto a spreadsheet and I couldn’t believe how much it helped.

I realised I had so much to be grateful for. I was pregnant with our 2nd child, how could I not be relishing in this love. We were so lucky that we didn’t need treatment, that I fell pregnant so easily (trust me, if anyone knows anything about depression and sex-drive, you’ll get that we were VERY lucky to fall pregnant so easily!). I was extremely grateful for that. We had a roof over our heads and my in-laws were so lovely, they really looked after us.

So once, I started to look at life from a gratitude point of view, my world changed. It wasn’t long before my husband got a business opportunity and we moved into a 2-bedroomed house, which we rented, but I was so grateful that we had the opportunity to move our life forward & not look at the negative. Since then, I read positive quotes & affirmations daily & I create my own. Hence the reason I set-up my online shop, as I feel it is important to surround yourself with reminders that you do have so much love to give and so much to be grateful for. You can also download my free inspirational messages book, which will show you how to make your own inspirational box.

4. WRITE DOWN POSITIVE MESSAGES/QUOTES & AFFIRMATIONS

As above, it’s just as important to write down quotes & affirmations. I think this really helped me. Just putting them into a spreadsheet. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but it truly helped. I did eventually make them into ‘annual quote a day’ books, and the process truly helped. It still does now. I’m a true believer this really works. In fact, my own quote is:

‘Positive messages throughout the day help to keep the negative thoughts away.’

You don’t need to use a spreadsheet, you can use a notebook or something that will inspire you. Buy a blackboard or a noticeboard and write down an affirmation/quote for the day. This will help the whole family come from a place of love and believe in themselves. Perfect for inspiring children. Just like the downloadable inspirational quotes will help to lift our children so that they become well-rounded adults who believe in themselves.

5. THERAPEUTIC WRITING

Now, this is my thing! Being an author, of course, I love writing and I love writing my inspirational blog, so I’m bound to say writing helps. But it’s actually a renowned form of therapy. It’s a great way to explore your emotions. The best way is to simply write, without thinking about WHAT you are writing. Just write. It’s like allowing your mind to be released of any pent-up frustrations. The best of it is, with therapeutic writing, you don’t need to be the best writer, best speller or know your grammar, because that’s not what it is about. It’s about writing for you and releasing toxic thoughts.

You will find writing prompts in my A-Z positive word blog.

Just pick a letter you’d like to work on, read the quotes and have a go at the exercise.

I found it also helps, that once my thoughts have been released, is to then think about what I want from a situation, so I write a ‘fantasy page’, I put out my desires to the universe but on paper, as if I’ve already received them, as if my desires have already happened and how that makes me feel. The thing with the Law of Attraction is, people struggle with imagination, so by writing down how something would make you feel, it’s easier to imagine it. It’s not only a great way to release, but it’s a great way to bring joy into your life. Experts at League City Integrative Counseling and Wellness will offer you guidance and expert advice.

6. LISTEN TO MUSIC / MEDITATE

When many people hear the word meditation, they believe that they can’t meditate, because they can’t sit still for five minutes and think of nothing. Admittedly, I found this a struggle at first, but after trying guided meditations I soon learned how to meditate alone. However, I found that music can be a huge avenue to relaxation, I found this out when I went to a Gabrielle Bernstein seminar. She played, ‘Titanium’ by Madilyn Bailey, she asked us all to stand up, close our eyes, put our hands in the air and feel the music … even as I write this I get shivers.

The feeling of joy and calmness filled my body. Since then, I truly listen to the music. I truly listen to the words and feel the music. A great way to listen to music is when you are out walking or when you are in the car (obviously not to close your eyes, but to feel it) … my girls and I are always blasting music and singing at the top of our voices. They had a friend in the car just yesterday, we blasted some music, we sang, we got our groove on … her friend said, ‘I never want to leave this car.’ It’s amazing how much a good sing-song can release those endorphins … so choose some of your favourite songs and get blasting those vocal cords.

7. START A PROJECT OF LOVE

Do something you love. This could be a scrapbook of a holiday, party or significant life event. Put aside some time to create something. If you’re not a creative person, do something that makes you happy. A passion project that will have you excited.

8. DECLUTTER / MAKE SPACE

This is kind of a given in the world of feng-shui. Clutter and mess can cause disorganisation. Now, I always say I have an ‘organised mess’ because I know where everything is, however, I have to admit I do work better when I’m not surrounded by wildness (I don’t mean nature, although, often feels like I’m sat in the middle of a zoo). There’s a wonderful feeling when you clear out the clutter that is causing your mind to feel like a chaotic roundabout. So book a day in your diary and clear out those cupboards … you may have things you can give to charity or for a car boot sale, whichever, you will feel such a calming release once you are decluttered.

9. INDULGE IN A CROSSWORD/WORDSEARCH/SUDOKU/JIGSAW PUZZLE

This to some people may sound extremely boring, but trust me, these activities truly work. Find something that you’re interested in, even sitting down to a colour therapy book is a great way to switch off, because your mind is concentrating on the task at hand, so other worries can be pushed to the back of your mind.

10. LIMIT TECHNOLOGY TIME

In this day and age, this last one is like swearing at people. How on earth did we live without such technology? When I was a teenager, I remember sitting on the stairs to use the house phone and making sure my sister didn’t pick up the other phone to listen in on our conversation. How times have changed? Don’t get me wrong … I do love the way technology has moved on and things we can do today are amazing, it makes running a business much easier: I can sit in my car on the school run and work on my phone – however, there comes a point when it’s too much. One of the sayings we’ve used as a family is, ‘When in the room, be in the room!’ This means, engage with each other. Make time for each other. Listen to each other. Spend time without our heads in any kind of technological device.

How to Feel Blessed When You Are Feeling Unblessed – A to Z Inspirational Blog; B is for Blessed with Blessed Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

A-Z Inspirational Journey

This week’s inspirational word

B IS FOR BLESSED

Do you often meander through life feeling as if you have problems to solve? Everything seems to be an issue? You’re not where you want to be in life? Do you hear yourself complaining about the smallest of things? But you feel irritated by these small things, that they don’t feel that small to you? In fact, you may have even answered, ‘No, I don’t complain about the small things …’ But actually when you put things into perspective they really are the small things.

Concentrating on what isn’t going right in your life is a sure way to bring more of ‘what isn’t going right in your life’ to you.

The best way to start counting your blessings is listing all the things you are grateful for. Gratitude will lead to more blessings. This is the way the Law of Attraction works. Once you understand this and see it working, you will get a buzz from counting your blessings.

Your weekly therapeutic creative writing exercise is below … even if you feel blessed, this exercise is definitely worth doing, as it will consciously bring forward all those things you are grateful for, which will lead to even more things to be grateful for … more blessings.

It’s going to take more than a therapeutic writing exercise for me to see my blessings …

Does the above sound like something you would say? Do you really feel as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and you really don’t know how to move forward? Sometimes we have to go through challenges to reach the other side. There are better outcomes once we’ve solved the issues that are holding us back.

If you haven’t read the Angels post from last week, do so when you can. I truly believe in every hardship, barrier or problem there is a lesson to be learnt. Our Angels don’t want to punish us, far from it, but they want us to live a better life and sometimes we can’t see that better life, because we think, ‘this is it?’ ‘How can things get better?’ It’s times like this you need to try and let go, concentrate on things you can do something about and truly look at the things that make your life blessed. Try thinking about being blessed without including material things … go deeper, spiritual and connect with a higher power.

Therapeutic Creative Writing Exercise

If you have a highlighter, it is very useful for this exercise.

I’m going to ask you a question and I want you to answer with one of the five answers below the question, quickly. Don’t think about your answer, just answer it …

  • How blessed do you feel?

1/Extremely Blessed     2/Blessed     3/Not quite sure     4/Not Blessed     5/You are so far from blessed you don’t think the word exists

Using the ‘free writing’ technique, try to expand on this, why do you feel the way you feel? For example; if you have written down that you don’t feel very blessed, try to explain these feelings to yourself by writing this down. If you have written down, you feel extremely blessed, write down why you feel so blessed. Whatever your answer, delve deeper.

It doesn’t matter how long you write for, what matters is that you write and try to get an understanding of how and where you are on the ‘feeling blessed’ scale.

So now, I want you to read over your thoughts and highlight anything negative. This isn’t me asking you to dismiss your feelings or emotions, this will help you understand how much your negative thoughts are taking over your positive thoughts. Ask yourself how much of your words are highlighted compared to your un-highlighted words.

If you haven’t highlighted any words, well done! This means you are on the right track for counting your blessings. This should feel amazing. Keep hold of your script and in moments of doubt, read through these thoughts.

If you have highlighted words, this is absolutely fine and perfectly normal. This is why I’ve created these exercises, to help you develop a positive mindset, even in those times when you don’t feel so blessed.

Firstly look at the highlighted words and ask yourself can I do anything about them? If you can do something about them, great … write down what you ARE going to do. This in itself is a blessing. Some problems have no solution, we have to ride out the wave and wait patiently. But even then, all is not lost, concentrate on the things you CAN do something about.

Once you have completed the above, now write down 20 blessings in your life … from the fact you can get up on a morning to the natural beauty that surrounds us. The last part of this exercise is great when sitting outside in nature. Gratitude is one of the most important elements in creating a life of blessings. Once you start to appreciate that you are truly blessed by simply being, you will feel elevated to a wonderful spiritual level of divine existence.

If you can practice daily becoming more attuned to your spiritual self, you will find yourself feeling truly blessed always. This doesn’t mean problems and barriers won’t come your way, but how you deal with them will make life much easier, because you’ll always remember how blessed you truly are.

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

So be inspired daily with this

Love & happiness to you always

How To Ask Angels For Help – A to Z Inspirational Blog; A is for Angels with Angel Quotes and Therapeutic Writing

Starting 2018’s

A-Z Inspirational Journey

with one of my favourite topics

A IS FOR ANGELS

I’m not sure the actual point in my life when I started to really ask my angels for help. I’ve always believed there are signs around us, telling us if we are moving in the right direction, I truly believe we are constantly being guided by signs. I also believe fully in the Law of Attraction and being guided by the Universe.

So although, I can’t remember the exact moment in my life when I became aware of signs from the angels, however, most of us turn to spiritually because of ‘a reason’. Something has happened in our lives that force us to seek help outside of the ‘perceived’ physical world we live in. When you begin to realise that our angels are always with us, you won’t just ask for their help in times of need, you’ll be forever grateful for their constant intervention, support and love.

Once this becomes second nature, when there are times of emotional or physical upheaval, you will deal with your problems, barriers and circumstances in a calmer and more positive way.

So how can you do this? How can you connect with your angels and silence your mind?

There are several ways you can connect with your angels, however, I highly recommend, the lady who is renowned as the Queen of Angel Therapy, Doreen Virtue, you can see some of her books here that I recommend. I personally, carry around an angel in my purse at all times, plus, I wear a feathered angel wing necklace and bracelet. If you’re interested in keeping your angels with you at all times, you can see my favourite angel gifts for yourself or as gifts for others here.

I’d also like to start the New Year with one of my popular Therapeutic Creative Writing Exercises, on how you can notice signs from the angels.

Therapeutic Creative Writing Exercise

This week, let’s start with a bit of ‘free writing’. Free writing is a form of therapy that can help you understand your emotions, feelings and thoughts better. So, find yourself a quiet space; space where you feel comfortable and can relax. The trick is to close your eyes for 10-20 seconds and let your thoughts flow. Let all those thoughts that collide with each other flow through your mind, then write. That’s it! Free writing is a great way to express your emotions, by writing them down you can actually see your thoughts on paper. It’s said that we have between 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day, which is between 35-48 thoughts per minute per person. That’s a lot of thinking! So hopefully you can see by writing down your thoughts, it will help you to see a pattern or give you more clarity.

Write for as long as you need, some people may need 10 minutes, some may need an hour. But once you have finished, read through your thoughts and as you do try to signify where you need help. This could be a situation with your career, family, relationships, health, whatever you feel is holding you back at the moment, bring that to life. Write down how the angels could help you. You don’t need to write down every time you would like help from the angels, but in this exercise, it will help, because you can identify where you would like the angels to help.

Once you feel as if you can ask for help, do so. Simply ask. Sometimes we may be asking for something but the Angels believe we deserve better, or it’s not the right time. They will deliver when the time is right. But you must keep the faith and believe. In the words of Doreen Virtue:

To help you think more about your Angels, here’s a few more of my favourite Angel Quotes:

Remember: Positive messages throughout the day, helps the negative thoughts stay away.

Inspirational Word of the Week: ZING – Top 10 Zing Quotes

HERE’S MY FAVOURITE

TOP 10 ZING QUOTES

Once you’ve read these, why not have a go at this week’s inspirational task, and even take a look at the therapeutic creative writing exercise that will help you find your zing for life.

Don’t forget to download your printable, free inspirational quotes

REMEMBER: “Positive messages throughout the day, keep the negative thoughts away”

This week’s task …

Ask yourself: How can you find your Zing for life?

I’ve said this previously, but I love this word. Zing is like sparkle that shines from you. Wouldn’t you like to find that sparkle and spread it like glitter?

Wouldn’t you love to feel utter happiness? Can you truly be that happy? Yes, yes you can. How?

Finding your zing, is like ensuring that your soul is connected with the greater good. Although, I’m asking you to refer back now, but it’s important that you think about all of the things we practised in these blog posts. You must feel gratitude, you must feel love, you must at peace … once you have achieved these, you will find your zing.

Your zing is there to spread to others, a bubbliness that will spread across people like a blanket of warmth. I get my zing from life in general, but I become zingier when I’m writing, either my books and or these blog posts. I want to spread as much zinginess as possible. I want you to feel your zing, so does God, the universe and your angels. So this week, look back through these posts, practice gratitude, practice love … it won’t happen overnight, unless you really up your game and truly feel it, then magical things will happen. Trust me. But it can take time and daily practice, hence the reason I’ve created my inspirational book, for you to download and be surrounded by inspiring messages.

If you’d like to know more about,

How to find your zing for life, you can read the previous blog here, as with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

As always, my mini message to you and why I love inspirational quotes … (I repeat this message on these blogs, as I truly want people to look at the positives in life and focus on the good. By reiterating that here, if it helps at least one person, then this blog is worth it)

I truly hope you get something from my words. When I was at my lowest, I inundated myself with quotes. I even started my own spreadsheet of quotes. I remember updating my spreadsheet while sitting in one of the spare bedrooms of my in-laws’ house, my two-year-old cuddled up to me, while my newborn laid in the crib next to the bed. I remember thinking, I have to stay positive. We have to get through this period of helplessness; lost businesses, family disputes, mental health problems, financial wreckage … it was safe to say, I was so grateful to my in-laws for putting a roof over our heads and food in our mouths, as I’m not sure where we would have ended up. I keep this short, as this part of my life is a novel in itself. But I want you to know, life is full of lessons … it’s up to us to face those challenges, knock down those barriers and keep going. Staying positive is easier said than done when you’re faced with daily struggles, but I trained my brain to only look at the bright side and block out the negative. By doing this, the Universe showed me that I can have all that I dream of and life can be magical, miracles do happen and life can be pretty awesome.

I developed my spreadsheets into daily inspirational quote books. A few years later, when I started my MA in Creative Writing, I totally connected with reflective writing. Hence the reason, I developed therapeutic creative writing exercises on my blog.

Since then, I’ve never given up on inspirational messages. I love them; I wake up to them, I go to sleep with them. I have my own affirmations. I want everyone to know the power of the mind. The power that you have to inspire yourself and others, no matter how much you feel this can’t happen for you. Trust me, from someone who felt the same, it can happen for you. YOU can make it happen. Remember, the Law of Attraction is always working, so if you feel negative things are happening in your world, listen to your thoughts, look for things to be grateful for, look for things to appreciate and watch your world become blessed with miracles and magic.

If you’d like to know more about,

How to become a younger version of you, you can read the previous blog here, as with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

Ask yourself: How old do you feel?

Not how old you are. How old do you feel?

You may know people who are your age and you think they seem younger than you, but this is all in the mind. These people have a positive mindset. People who feel younger, do things that make them feel younger.

It’s all a bit of catch-22, I know, you need to feel good to be doing something that makes you feel good. However, let’s turn this around … do something that makes you feel good. If you’ve been reading my blog posts, you will realise by now the Law of Attraction gives you what you give out there. So, let’s think about this … if you’re feeling old, the Law of Attraction is going to give you more of that old feeling.

So if you could do something that would make you feel younger, what would it be?  This week, think about something that you love doing, something that you enjoy, something that gives you energy … and do it! We often put our hobbies or favourite things on the back burner, because we have so many things to achieve in a day, but like the relaxation post says, you need to relax to get more done. Once you put all the pieces into play, all the pieces that fit with the Law of Attraction you’ll realise how it all comes together … what you put out there, is what you receive … so this week do something that makes you feel younger and truly appreciate that feeling.

Breathe it in, enjoy it and more of it.

As always, my mini message to you and why I love inspirational quotes … (I repeat this message on these blogs, as I truly want people to look at the positives in life and focus on the good. By reiterating that here, if it helps at least one person, then this blog is worth it)

So, if you’d like to know more about,

How to welcome opportunities into your life, you can read the previous welcoming blog here, as with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

Ask yourself: What challenges am I facing? How can I welcome them, as opportunities?

Does this sound too much? If so, then this week’s task is definitely for you.

When you fight against a problem, when you forcefully give it anger, you are only projecting more anger towards yourself.

If you take a problem and embrace it, ask the universe why. Don’t shout, ‘WHY!” in anger and frustration, simply ask, ‘Why is this happening and what can I learn from it?’ There will be an answer.

I have been through times that have had me crying daily, really feeling the pain that life was SO unfair. Why did bad things keep happening to me? Once I realised these things were actually making me stronger, they were teaching me that I could live the life I wanted, I just had to think about things differently, life became much easier. I am thankful every day for my life journey, for the uphill struggles (and trust me there have been a few!) because they’ve made me into the loving, giving person I am today.

I’ve come to realise the world doesn’t revolve around me. It revolves around all of us. We are all one. We are on a journey of enlightenment and fulfilment. God, the universe and the angels don’t want us to suffer. We put ourselves through suffering.

So this week, take your problems, write them down if you can, and start thinking about not only solutions to these problems, but opportunities. What opportunities can you find in the deepest darkest moments of despair?

Happy thoughts guys … lead to a happy life.

Do you want to become more vibrant? You can read the previous vibrancy blog here, as with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

Ask yourself: How do people feel when they’ve left your company?

Have you heard the term ‘mood hoovers’ – these are the people that drain you when you talk to them. You’ve heard the term, ‘they’ve got a problem for every solution!’ Are you that person?

This week is simple. Do not complain. It’s that simple.

If you feel yourself going to complain or just have a little whine … STOP! If you are going to update someone on your life and you feel it’s not going to plan, for example, you are looking for a new job and you’ve not quite got there yet, don’t complain, just cheerily say, ‘I’m working on it.’ Once you start doing this, you will also lift your thoughts to a higher place and the universe is always listening. The Law of Attraction is always working. When you realise this, you’ll never think a negative thought again. You’ll never complain again.

Once you instil this way of thinking, you can’t help but become a vibrant person, because everything is done out of love!

We all have days that drive us crazy and things don’t go to plan, but when you actually ask yourself, ‘Is it the end of the world?’ Put things into perspective and start looking for the positive in life.

This week, show gratitude, love and joy. NO COMPLAINING ALLOWED THIS WEEK!

Inspirational Word of the Week: UNIVERSE – Top 10 Universe Quotes

If you’d like to know more about,

How to ask the universe for what you want, you can read the previous blog hereas with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

Ask yourself: What are thinking about right now?

If the universe was to take a snapshot of your thoughts, what would be projected back to you?

I will keep saying this over and over, as when you realise that you create your own life with your own thoughts, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. Simply tell the universe this week, what it is you want. This cannot be a cry of despair. Because remember it’s your thoughts that are being monitored. The universe is listening to your thoughts and watching your actions. Whatever you put out there to the Universe, it is always sending it back to you.

Sometimes things may take longer than we’d like them to, but everything happens for a reason. It will happen at the right time. The Universe wants to give you all the happiness in the world. It wants you to think happy thoughts. In the words of Gabrielle Bernstein (sorry I know I mention her a lot in my posts, but she is truly an amazing inspiring person) ‘The Universe has your Back’.

This week tell the universe what you would like. Many people will ask for more money, however, it’s embracing the thoughts that you already have enough abundance. If you’re not grateful for the pounds and pennies you have now, how can you expect more? If you’re constantly thinking about lack, you’ll receive more lack. This week come from a place of love, happiness and joy. Start projecting happy thoughts to the universe. Gratitude is key.

Not sure on how to change your thoughts, you can read the previous blog, how to change your negative thoughts to positive thoughts, as with all inspirational words from our A-Z journey it features a therapeutic creative writing exercise.

Ask yourself: What do I think about most?

This week is about monitoring your thoughts; really be conscious of what you think. Do you bitch about people? Do you complain? How often do you say, ‘Thank you’ to the universe? How grateful are you?

This week, consciously think happy thoughts. Think about your ‘wants’ … what do you want from life? Not your fears or your dislikes. The Law of Attraction works. So whatever you’re thinking, the universe is listening, and it will reflect back to you more of what you’re thinking about.

So whenever you feel a negative thought has taken over, try and think of something positive in your life. Something you are grateful for. My downloadable book is available down below, this will help you, as my motto is, ‘Positive messages throughout the day help keep the negative thoughts away.’ This is a great place to start. Filling yourself with positivity will ensure your thoughts stay happy and joyful.
