WELCOME

Today I wanted to talk to you about welcoming challenges into your life … you may be thinking that doesn’t sound very positive! How on earth can challenges be positive?

Challenges are draining, exhausting, depressing … sound familiar?

Well, in this blog post I want you to think about challenges in a completely different light. I want you to imagine that the challenges you are facing are the pinnacle of what will make your life better.

Credit: Like Success

You may feel as if this is not possible, your challenges are far too big. But I’ll ask one question: Are you seriously ill? If you are, I send you all the love in the world and wish you a healthy future. I truly appreciate you reading my blog and I hope you find some inspiration from the posts. I’d also advise you go to the Hay House website, if you haven’t already and read ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay, and you can also read Louise Hay Interview with The Telegraph here (the journalist is a little bit sceptical but you can’t knock Louise Hay for her vibrant, inspiring encouragement). I’m not saying Louise Hay will cure you, but she will help you look at life a little differently.

So if you’re not seriously ill but are facing challenges that are making you ill, such as financial pressure, work difficulties, relationship problems, there is way to look at these aspects of your life differently. You may feel I’ve lightened your issues by asking if you’re seriously ill – quite the opposite. I understand the sleepless nights, the physically feeling sick with worry, the head that aches because you feel as if it’s in a vice … yes, hands-up, I’ve been there. I’ve been at a point where my problems have made me ill.

But since learning about the Law of Attraction and positive thinking I’ve realised that sweating the small, or big stuff, can actually make things a whole lot worse. It’s best to let it all go and welcome any disruptions, challenges or changes head on. Imagine they are there for a reason.

Credit: Quote Master

Now, that’s not me saying ignore the problems in your life, bury them under your skin, don’t let them affect you, that will never work because then they become deep rooted issues, issues that take over your world unconsciously, which is worse than addressing them and thinking about them consciously. Now don’t get me wrong, I still face challenges … I bet Louise Hay, and her team, still have a challenge or two, however, it’s how we deal with these challenges that makes the difference to our lives.

Credit: Sendable Quotes

Imagine if you were to welcome and embrace any challenge into your life, imagine you were going to learn something from the challenge. Welcome the change it will bring to you.

In this week’s therapeutic writing exercise, let’s look at:

HOW YOU CAN WELCOME CHALLENGES INTO YOUR LIFE

1/ WRITE DOWN YOUR CHALLENGES: Write down what challenges you are facing at the moment, this could be a list of more than one challenge, an individual sentence will be sufficient at this stage.

2/ TAKE ONE CHALLENGE APART: Sometimes we are so overwhelmed with a particular challenge that we can’t face welcoming it, because we don’t know where it starts or ends. So break it down. Take one of your challenges, maybe at this stage one of the challenges that you feel may be easily fixed, as this will encourage you to move onto more challenging challenges. Bullet point the parts that are upsetting you, making you angry or making you feel helpless.

3/ ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE FEELINGS: Why am I asking you to acknowledge these feelings? Because these are the feelings that are holding you back. You can’t move on and face these challenges while you keep all this anger, worthlessness or whatever it is you’re feeling, pent-up inside of you. You must welcome those feelings. Those feelings are there for a reason, so they must be welcomed so you can help solve the challenges.

So acknowledge that you are angry because … or you are hurt because …

Write these feelings down. Scribble away at this stage to your heart’s content. Imagine you are John Coffey from the Green Mile, releasing all those awful bugs and letting go of the nastiness. Dramatic? But whatever helps you understand you are a wonderful being and that all this ‘stuff’ isn’t you, then imagine releasing the toxins in the best way you see fit. Imagine as your pen scrawls across the paper you are releasing the toxins: the bugs.

4/ WHAT CAN YOU LEARN?

Now, let’s look at what you can learn from the challenges. Imagine these challenges are happening for a reason, they are part of your life lessons. Ask yourself questions to help prompt some answers, such as:

  • Should you be more grateful?
  • Are you focusing on too many negatives?
  • Are you looking at all opportunities available to you?
  • What can YOU DO to make your days better?
  • Are you in the wrong job?
  • What job would you like to do?
  • Do you need to make more effort in your relationship or do you need to move on?

I understand these are basic questions that may feel like I’m making light of certain challenges, but these basic questions can lead to your wants; they can help you focus on the solution rather than the problem. Too many people focus on the negative rather than the positive (you can read the positive thoughts post here) which can lead to them thinking their challenges are bigger than they are. Again, that’s not me dismissing what you’re feeling, as our emotions make us heightened to what is actually bothering us. However, let’s take these challenges and ask yourself, ‘What welcomed learning can I take from this?’ What have you learnt, or can you learn, from the challenges you are facing? What can you welcome into your life from these challenges?

5/ MEDITATE: Okay, you may be thinking, how can I meditate now you’ve just let me overload about how upset I am? And what I can learn from things … I’ve now too much to think about … if these are your thoughts … STOP!

At this stage breathe. Breathe deeply and close your eyes. If you haven’t mastered the art of meditation, this is the time in your life to start. Meditation will help you release all that pent-up overload that is fogging your brain. Meditation will help you release negativity and fill you with positivity. It helps to unload all that blackness that could actually be creating the challenges that don’t need to be there. You must welcome calmness into your life to enable you to learn anything from your challenges.

6/ TURN YOUR LEARNING INTO AFFIRMATIONS: If you’ve read my blog posts you’ll know that I’m a lover of affirmations. I surround myself with positivity. My office walls are full of inspiring messages. I awake to affirmations by my bedside. I have affirmations at my desk. I have affirmations everywhere. I must mention, Louise Hay again, but she is the ultimate guru on affirmations. So this is where you can really turn your challenge into a positive. Write out what you want from these challenges, for example,

  • I am so grateful for … (fill in blank: work, family, relationship etc.)
  • I am in a loving relationship.
  • I am financially-free.
  • I am a grateful, positive person who sees the good in all.

You decide what it is you want from your life. You decide what you can learn from these challenges.

Get excited about the challenges and seek something from them, it’ll be there waiting for you to discover it and you should welcome the learning with open arms.

Wishing you love, happiness and fulfilment always

VIBRANT

Do you know any vibrant people? I don’t mean people who wear bright colours or who are so eccentric it’s blinding … I mean people who are vibrant from inside out. You feel as if a light shines bright within them. Happy, joyful, blissful people who are jolly, no matter what the circumstances. Maybe you assume they have a wonderful life because they are so happy … because they are so vibrant. Do you find them inspirational and wonderful to be around?

Are you this person? Is your, ‘Glass half full’? Do you, ‘Look at the bright side’? If not, and you would like to be vibrant, or little more joyous, this post is definitely for you.

Do you wonder how people could be so vibrant? Do you know someone who is maybe ‘too vibrant’ – not that I believe there is such a thing, but there maybe someone who really is just too much for you to bear. However, think about this …

Think about the company you keep at the moment … are the people you surround yourself with happy people, or is there always something wrong? Something to whinge about? I don’t mean serious issues … I mean every day whinges that sometimes we can’t do anything about. If we can’t do anything about them, what’s the point in whinging about them? It’s that simple. Sometimes we have to accept things and move on.

Are you one of those people who says things like: ‘What do I have to be happy about?’ ‘Bad things always happen to me.’ ‘Well … that’s just my luck … because I don’t have any!’ Feel familiar? Or sound familiar to someone you know? If this is the case, before you start the exercise below, it would be a good idea to read the following blog posts: Appreciation what you haveEnjoying what you haveGratitude is the best attitude. These are just a few other inspirational blog posts that will show you how to become a more grateful person. This is the start in your lesson to becoming a more vibrant person.

This therapeutic creative writing week’s exercise:

HOW TO BECOME A MORE VIBRANT PERSON EVEN WHEN YOU FEEL GREY

  • Write down how you feel people percieve you now, or how you percieve yourself.
  • How do you feel you could become more vibrant? This isn’t about others, i.e, just because someone doesn’t smile at you or isn’t polite, that says more about them than it does you. So don’t absorb their negative energy by responding negatively, it’s up to you to feel vibrant and not rely on others to make you feel vibrant.
  • Write down some names of people who you think are vibrant, if it’s no-one you actually know (I’m advising you to start looking for some new friends, not get rid of the old ones, but surround yourself with others who are positive. You can join new groups, find a new hobby … do something quickly to surround yourself with more positivity. If you do have a list of names, ask yourself what makes them vibrant? Ask yourself do they have it all? You’ll find that they probably don’t, they’ll have issues, problems and things going on they won’t discuss with anyone, but they’ll put those aside and not let that show. This doesn’t mean bottling it up … but it does mean they CHOOSE to not let this drag them down in front of others.
  1. SMILE TO YOURSELF: Firstly start simply by smiling: when you awake on a morning, the first thing you should do is SMILE. This may be easier said than done if you don’t want to face the world. Put a sign next to your bed that tells you to SMILE! No sarcastic smiles. Give yourself a huge grin. Let your feet touch the ground, feel your body and remember you’re alive. This is a new day, you can do new things. SMILE about this joyous opportunity. New thoughts = New you!
  2. SMILE AT STRANGERS: When you are out and about SMILE! Smile at strangers. You can read here from the Huffington Post how smiling at strangers is good for you.
  3. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF: Don’t let the little things get you down; road rage, people who push in queues, someone not holding the door for you – none of that stuff matters. It says more about them, than it does you. So if you are faced with a situation that would have you cursing, change those negative words into loving words and send the love to this person. Say aloud, ‘I send you the love,’ and truly mean it. Feel how your anger and irritation diffuses. Relish that feeling.
  4. TAKE TIME TO LISTEN TO OTHERS: Whether it’s a family member, a friend or a colleague. Truly listen to them. However, if they have a problem, don’t dwell with them. Don’t lose sympathy and tell them to ‘buck up’ – show empathy but ask them if they’ve thought of looking at things from another angle, or help them think outside of themselves. Show them a positive route, inspire them and don’t let the negativity eat away at them. Help them find a solution. Be the person who has solutions not problems.
  5. MAKE SMALL TALK WITH PEOPLE YOU COME INTO CONTACT WITH: This could be a shop assistant, a passer-by in the street or someone who looks like the last thing they want to do is talk to you … be the bigger person and make small talk – even if it’s about the weather. Not whining about the weather, if it’s raining, think of this as a good thing, ‘Gosh, it’s nice to have a wet spell, my flowers will be blooming!’ Always have something positive to say. Some people feed off negativity, don’t be one of them. Be the person that makes others feel good.
  6. IT COULD BE HARD WORK BUT KEEP AT IT, IT WILL BE WORTH IT: The Negativity Bias is a well-known theory that says we are more likely to remember bad things happening to us, rather than good. If this is the case, you need to work twice as hard at being positive. That’s okay. Just remember if negative thoughts creep in, you are a vibrant, positive person. Use it as one of your affirmations, so that it becomes second nature and no longer hard work. In fact, you will start to reject negative thoughts.
  7. DON’T GET DRAGGED DOWN: If you are surrounded by an office full of negativity learn to build a wall around you. This doesn’t mean ignoring people and becoming rude as you are now going to become the most vibrant person in the office. If you feel you’ve been dragged into this endless pit of whinging and moaning then devise a positivity plan. If you think your office will be on board you could start a positivity jar: every time someone says something negative they must put £1 into the jar. Spend the money, at the end of the month, on something that will make you all smile, for example, pizza, drinks or a positivity poster). If you feel the people in your office won’t take too kindly to your vibrant plan, then do it alone. Don’t get wrapped up in conversations that criticise others etc. You will soon find yourself heading to a new office with vibrancy. Inspiring, positive, vibrant thoughts always win.
  8. LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE: Once you get into a vibrant and positive mind-set, you will find that you are attracting more vibrant things into your life. So if you see something that oozes vibrancy then ensure it becomes part of your life; this could be a poster (stick it on a wall in your house), it could be person (a friend that makes you feel good) try and spend more time with them. Surrounding yourself with vibrancy will attract more vibrancy into your life. Seek out vibrancy and you will bring more of it to you.
  9. PUT YOURSELF FIRST: This is essential in being happy. Once you are happy, you will naturally become vibrant. Even if you’re not an extroverted person, your vibrancy will shine through. You may think it’s difficult to put yourself first, if you have a family to look after or other external issues taking up your head space, but it’s essential in helping you become the vibrant person you most definitely can be. Do you have goals and dreams you want to achieve? If you have put them away for another day, take them back out of that ‘mind cupboard’ and put a plan in place to help achieve your dreams. Even if it starts with half an hour day, you’ll feel amazing by starting, get yourself into a habit of making it work for you and watch your inner happiness grow.
  10. WEAR YOUR VIBRANCY: I don’t truly believe that you need to wear bright colours to show your vibrancy, however, if that works for you, go for it. You could be wearing all black, but that smile on your face will give you all the colour you need. This article from The Daily Love, gives a great account of why it’s important to wear what you love. Wearing what you love and makes you comfortable will help you along your journey of becoming a vibrant person.

Now, I’m going to speak to you realistically … don’t get me wrong, the above for me is realistic … however, if you’re in a bad place, the above will feel like ‘fluffy bubbly talk’, talk that you may not feel like doing. So there are other healthy alternatives to help get you there …

So there you have it … get out there and attract the vibrancy you deserve.

UNIVERSE

It’s as simple as the above says. The Universe is not against you. Even though you may feel sometimes as if it is, but you need to look at your thoughts. What are you actually thinking about? The Universe is responding to your thoughts and what you think about most. Imagine the Universe is a mirror of life … the universe is showing you constantly what your thoughts are about.

One of the best books to read when it comes to talking about the Universe and the Law of Attraction is, ‘The Secret’ There are many more in-depth books, but Rhona Byrne gives a simple, clear and concise description that – what you are receiving in life is what you are putting out there. This is a good place to start when it comes to reading about the Law of Attraction.

law of attraction, the secret, inspirational quotes

Now, I’m a true believer in angels and God, so sometimes they have to intervene if they think we are heading down the wrong path. So for example, you may want to be promoted at work. So you put a vast amount of energy and positivity in wanting to be promoted, but it suddenly doesn’t come off, you may ask yourself, ‘But I put so much positive energy into visualising this dream.’ The angels, the Universe and God are delivering something better to you. Stay focused on being positive and it will all make sense.

The Universe, God and the angels know this and they want you to have that something better, it’s your job to seek it out and look out for the opportunities. This may sound like hard work, but it’s not, the answer will be there, you’ve already given out to the Universe you want something better, but you mustn’t be thinking in terms of lacking, or the universe just hears you are lacking, so will deliver ‘more lacking’ to you. Be grateful, be thankful, be appreciative.

This week’s therapeutic creative writing exercise:

How to use the Law of Attraction and getting what you want from the Universe.

What you need to understand is, the Universe is reflecting back to you what your main thoughts are – so if you want something in your life to change, you need to be clear about what you want.

It’s easier to see this in black and white, so writing down your ‘wants’ in a wish-list type of way is a great way to focus on your desires. Then treat them as affirmations to help you believe you are already there.

  1. Write down what you want from life. If it’s easier split your wants into categories, eg: career, relationship etc. If it’s something specific, write a sentence about what you want. It must be, ‘I want ….’ You must focus on what you want (I can’t reiterate this enough). If you start writing down what you are lacking, for example. ‘I really want to be promoted because I am unhappy in my current position …’ You’re telling the Universe that you are unhappy & therefore the Universe will deliver more unhappiness.
  2. So for example, if you do want to be promoted, (let’s use promoted to ‘manager’ to help with this exercise), you would write: ‘I want to be promoted to manager.’
  3. Now we are going to change this into an affirmation – which means to believe you’re already in this position, so write down:* I am the manager of ….. And then play make-believe that you are the manager … how would that feel? Manifest your desires. Bring this affirmation to life. Pretend you are already playing the role of manager, feel it, see it, breathe it.
  4. To help bring this to life we can add a few more affirmations, such as:* I am a happy and successful manager* My team respect me* I am financially secure* I give love to my team members & help them succeed in their roles.

These are just a few affirmations that can help you imagine and visualise your dream job. Write these affirmations on a piece of card and carry them with you. When you wake up on a morning, grab that feeling of being manager as soon as you awake, how would it feel?

The Universe will soon deliver ‘your wants’ to you. Like I said earlier, you’ve given out to the Universe your desires, so if God and the angels know there is something better for you, they will bring that too you, remember to stay focused, positive and happy.

Have fun testing this out 🙂

Wishing you love, happiness and fulfilment always

THOUGHTS

It was the concept that our thoughts create our reality that initially got me interested in the Law of Attraction, which was many many many years ago. Now being a Law of Attraction Practitioner, (which led to me becoming an NLP Practitioner), this concept is second nature.

When I first started to learn about the Law of Attraction, I didn’t think it could be so easy. I mean, think about it, anything we think about can be created … it sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, doesn’t it? But imagine my excitement when I found it works! It actually works! The Universe will deliver whatever you think about most. It seems so simple, why not try it out …

Ok, in reality it’s not so simple. Most people have jam-packed lives, they are busy running from one place to another, either for themselves, family or friends, there’s always some place to be or something that needs to be done. Sometimes the treadmill of life doesn’t give room for positive thoughts, or in reality we don’t allow ourselves to think positively as we worry about certain aspects of our life. But trust me, even when you’re in the depths of despair you can do this. You can think positive thougths and lift your vibration levels so that you can receive positive things.

Credit: Home Cyn Home

Start tracking your thoughts, see how many times YOU DO complain in 24 hrs! When you do, STOP those thoughts in their tracks. Don’t let your thoughts rollercoaster through your mind without you taking much notice, start to understand what your main thoughts are and how you can relate them to your life. For example: Are your thoughts about lack of money, creating that minus in your bank balance? Is the lack of love in your friendships/relationships, because you think about how much you’re unloved? What is your main focus? What do you think about the most?

Here’s this therapeutic creative writing exercise:

HOW TO CHANGE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS TO POSITIVE THOUGHTS

  • Start writing down your main thoughts either as you are going through your day or at the end of the day?
  • What is the main thing on your mind at the moment?
  • Are you excited about anything?
  • If you are, this will be lifting your thoughts to a higher level … have you noticed that other things in your life seem to be going to plan?
  • Are you worried about something?
  • Feeling sad, under-the-weather etc? If this is the case, where is this leading your thoughts?
  • Think about how your thoughts are related to the life you are leading at the moment.

Another good exercise is to look at the people around you: do those who are plaqued with constant issues and problems whine much? Do those who seem to bounce through life, seem to do just that … bounce through life? You’ve heard the saying, ‘They could fall in a pile of s**t and come our smelling of roses!’ When you start taking notice, you will find that these people aren’t merely lucky, they are positive happy people, they give their all to their life and don’t let any negativity they may be faced with influence their thoughts. Some people naturally are positive thinkers, but most have to work at it, because it’s easier to look at what you haven’t got rather than what you have.

Credit: Pintrest

Once you’ve done the tracking of your thoughts exercise, look at what it is that’s worrying you and for each particular aspect, re-write the sentence and start to use it as an affirmation. Affirmations are amazing at helping to change your thoughts to positive without forcing. So for example: If you are wanting to be promoted, are you feeling bitter because you feel overlooked & not worthy. Start by telling yourself, ‘I am amazing at my job and I deserve promotion. I will take steps to ensure I am given a promotion.’ Doing affirmations in the mirror is a great way to instil them. Don’t let any negative thoughts creep in, such as, ‘But my boss hates me,’ ‘I hate my boss,’ ‘Billy from accounts is so much better than me,’ etc. If you feel negative thoughts creeping in, push them aside and tell yourself how amazing you are at your job and your work will soon be recognised.

Positive thinking can take some time if you are not in the best of places mentally, but as soon as you turn your thoughts around you will see the difference in your life. Start looking for the good, start being grateful rather than focusing on the problems and the solutions will start to appear.

Wishing you love, happiness and fulfilment always

SIGNS

There are signs daily telling us we are going in the right (or wrong) direction. They are all around us and it’s our job to look out for them. If you are a spiritual individual, you’ll understand when I say your angels are constantly communicating with you. If you’d like to know more about angels and connecting with them, I recommend renowned best-selling author Doreen Virtue. If you’ve not heard of her, her books are a must-read.

But even if you’re not spiritual and you’re thinking the talk of Angels is a step too far, have a think about one word … coincidences.

Things happen in life that we call coincidences, but if you put the pieces together around these coincidences and work out the puzzle you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find.

In the words of Albert Einstein:

coincidence-for-sign-blog

Credit: Like Success

This brings me on to numbers – if you haven’t heard of numerology you can read more on an excellent website Numerologist

In a nutshell, numerology is related to your name and your life path. This is a really interesting way to look at your personality, your character and understand whether you are on the right life path or not.

Numbers are also sent to us by our angels, again, Doreen Virtue is describes the meaning of numbers in her book, ‘Healing with Angels’

And in her own words …

Sometimes we don’t want to look for signs because we’re scared, we’re worried about the change in our lives, the upheaval … but if you’re unhappy anyway and you’re unconsciously calling out for help, (or you may already be aware that your angels are helping you and you are consciously asking for their help, but you still feel apprehensive), if you remember the angels have your back. They are sending you signs to help you move forward. They want you to be powerful, strong and awesome and they will help you achieve these goals. Believe and look for the signs.

This week’s therapeutic creative writing exercise:

Before you start this writing exercise take 10 minutes to be quiet, still and breathe.

If you need longer for this breathing exercise that’s absolutely fine. Take all the time you need to just be still.

Whilst you are breathing, think about things that have happened over the last week or recently that made you stop and think or anything that caught you off-guard … any coincidences? Where they really coincidences? Have these coincidences led to anything new in your life? Made you think differently?

Write down how you feel about the coincidence and why you think it happened.

If you can’t think of anything, that’s perfectly fine, things happen in life that we often take no notice of. Coincidences can happen daily and that’s what we see them as … coincidences. However, this week and over the next few weeks, start noticing what is going on around you: If a certain song is played that reminds you of someone or something, is that for a reason? Have you bumped into someone who you haven’t seen for a while? Has something happened that has actually made you feel completely devastated? With this last question, this is the time you need to look out for the signs. Things in life happen for a reason. We often can’t see it, as in the saying we can’t see the ‘word for the trees’, it’s times like this we need to step back and look at the bigger picture. Easier said than done, I know. But this is an amazing time for therapeutic writing. It will help you see the signs that the angels are helping you move forward. S0 get writing and get discovering.
